About The March Hare
The March Hare is a tea room in Grantham at 6a Market Pl, split across two levels and with a gravelled yard called the Secret Garden. Inside, a large display of home-made style cakes is on offer throughout the day. The menu includes a Ploughman's and mushroom soup, and it also carries a gluten free range. Meals are cooked to order, so service can be slow. Dogs are welcome. Parking in the square can be full, so roadside parking on Church Lane and a car park right outside are the alternatives.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the cakes and the friendly staff at this village tea room, with a varied cake display that several say they wanted to return for. Close behind are the freshly made lunches, including a ploughman's with a good selection of cheese and a mushroom soup described as flavoursome, plus a good tea selection served in a nice pot and fabulous coffee. One reviewer with a celiac child found the gluten free range made a family lunch stress free. Others mention the bright, airy inside, the art and gifts on sale, and an Indian themed evening called fantastic. The recurring caveat is pace, as one reviewer notes service can be a little slow because meals are cooked to order. Another was disappointed by the outdoor Secret Garden, a small gravelled yard where uncleared tables left the area unappealing and the front tables sit right on the road. Several prefer sitting inside. One reviewer closes on a drink order that arrived promptly after a smile at the door.

“Was greeted with a smile order for drinks taken very soon after arriving and arrived promptly. Given time to look at menu before order taken. Food was wonderful and plentiful. Next time going to leave room for cake they all looked fantastic. Would definitely go back and very soon .”

“We stopped for a quick refreshment on Monday 29th. We had excellent service as always. The Mushroom soup was so flavoursome. We'll done for keeping your standards high. There is a lovely selection of art work, very good value for money. I ❤️ the sheep pictures. Always a pleasure to visit. Great choice of food & cakes too”

“Had a wonderful lunch here. The food is delicious and freshly made and the cakes are fantastic. They have a great gluten free range and it's one of the few places we've been where eating as a family with a celiac child has been stress free and relaxing! The staff are so friendly and inviting and the atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommend for lunch!”

“Stayed here for one night whilst working away. The apartment was excellent and well furnished. It was much bigger than we initially thought. Very clean throughout and had some nice views out onto the town. Lots of parking available and easy access when details were sent across!”

“We had a quick stop into Mancetter square during a drive around the local countryside. The parking in the square was full but there's road side parking up church lane. The tea room is split between two levels and can accommodate around 30 people. We had a drink and a ploughman's the service was quick and polite. The ploughman's was nice with a good selection of cheese and a salad as we like it plenty of variety and cut up quite small. The tea for one came in a nice pot and there was enough for three good cups... There's a good menu for a tea shop with plenty of options. There was a large selection of cakes they all looked really nice home made style, unfortunately we didn't have time to stay longer and indulge. The decor is bespoke and quirky.”
