  “Visited on family recommendation. Was not disappointed. Great central location. Lovely, friendly welcome and so nice to have table service. Take away, vegetarian and gluten free options too. Chose from a selection of scones, very fresh and tasty and no additional charge for jam, like so many places nowadays! Very impressed with variety of soup and salad options too. Efficient and helpful staff. Very clean, bright, airy and spacious, with plenty of room between tables. So delighted that we visited and will definitely return! 😍”

Established in 2015 as a ministry of the church, the cafe serves as a social enterprise dedicated to supporting the homeless and unemployed. It is heartening to see a space that genuinely prioritizes those in need, transforming the church building into a genuine place of meeting, rest, and provision. Supporting such a compassionate cause makes every visit feel meaningful. The moment you step inside, you are enveloped by a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. The seating arrangements are thoughtfully laid out, inviting you to slow down and enjoy a moment of peace amidst the city's frantic pace. The service is equally warm. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, contributing to the feeling of being truly cared for. We even had the pleasure of meeting the Chaplain, a lovely lady whose presence underscores the cafe’s roots in ministry and kindness. Beyond the wonderful mission and setting, the quality of the refreshments is excellent. We enjoyed tea and coffee, both of which were brewed to perfection. The Sultana scone was a particular highlight—fresh, flavorful, and a perfect accompaniment to our drinks. It is rare to find such high-quality refreshments in a city centre location at such reasonable prices. The Wild Olive Tree is a rare gem in Glasgow. Whether you are looking for a quiet corner to reflect, a warm welcome, or simply a high-quality coffee, this cafe delivers on every front. By choosing to spend your time and money here, you are contributing to a truly worthy cause. We highly recommend visiting this haven of peace and supporting the vital work they do.”

  “Best place in Glasgow for a scone. Always fresh. The selection changes daily. Everything including soups and cakes are made on the premises. Ethically sourced goods. Lovely staff on a living wage. Very clean and well priced. The building is easily accessible and there is plenty of space between the tables.”

  “Saw reviews online for this cafè and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. The homemade soup was delicious and there was a choice of 5 different soups. We didn't try the homemade scones ... but they looked lovely and, again, there was at least four different flavours on offer. We opted for a coffee and slice of cake instead. All the staff were encountered were so friendly and polite. So glad we decided to try this place.”

  “We spotted their sign from across the road and found the perfect place for lunch. We arrived at about 11.40am and soup is served from 12pm, so we started off with a scone and a drink. The scones were fresh, light and delicious. Then we had soup to follow, which came with two big pieces of tasty bread. A lovely light and airy church and the staff are friendly, informative and helpful. They also do takeaway drinks. They support the homeless, so ask for a donation towards their work if you can. A lovely spot and a worthy cause.”

  “Clean airy bright and welcoming. We just had a scone and a drink which were both like the staff the only letdown which was ours not theirs they had run out of soup (our train was 89mins late getting into Glasgow, would I call again ?, Yes I would”

  “Great little spot to escape into in the midst of the city’s hustle and bustle. It’s a popular cafe with locals and tourists alike, so each of the days we went it was busy, but even if you have to wait for a table it’s not more than a few minutes as they keep it moving. There’s also an option for takeaway as well. :) 🍲Soups: We tried the cream of mushroom, Moroccan chicken, and sweet potato with tomato base. All were excellent alongside the sourdough bread. ✨Scones: Freshly made and delicious. Sultana scone was excellent- while the cranberry orange was also great, it’s made with candied orange, so it can be a wee bit sweet if that’s not your thing. Served with clotted cream & jam upon request. 👌🏻 ☀️Service: All staff are very friendly even at the busiest of times and do their best to help everyone and serve in an efficient and timely manner. Oftentimes they will even stop by the table and chat with you when checking to make sure you’re satisfied with everything. This was the cheapest and most delicious spot we tried in Glasgow- extremely affordable with generous portions. (I left stuffed each time after a big bowl of soup and a scone). Wonderful food, service, and helping those in need. It’s a wonderful lunch spot and worth a visit if you’re nearby. :)”

  “Really neat dining experience in the heart of downtown Glasgow. The restaurant is accessible through the side entrance of the church that houses it, and boasts a lot of seating comfortably spread out amongst the dining room area (the church's nave). The menu features primarily soups with bread, scones and a number of other desserts, as well as coffee, too. I ordered a scone with cream, and my friend ordered tea as well as a scone. The service here was amazing and quite quick, with friendly staff members, and my scone was great (vanilla scone). My friend's scone was also good (pumpkin, sunflower scone), but it was not nearly as good as the one I ordered, and the tea was also pretty decent. Additionally, I should point out that the cream was a very good move, as it was excellent, and that the scones come with their own little jar of jelly, too, which is very good and tastes fresh. Other nice things included an accessible restroom at the back of the church, and the interior feeling warm yet also nice and airy. The small complaints that I do have are that the restaurant does not have menus that they pass out to you, and you need to stand near the entrance to look over the menu and order, which can be a problem when people are entering the restaurant or when it becomes busier. Other than that, a great experience (plus they have strong wifi with a code on the menu at the front!)”
