Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the gelato for its unusual, regularly changing flavours. The Waffle Party, with cinnamon butter gelato, blueberry ripple and waffle chunks, is singled out as a standout, and the spiced chai pear is called moreish. Close behind is the hot chocolate, in white, dark, milk, caramelised white and brown butter versions, all topped with toasted marshmallow fluff. One reviewer calls it a hug in a to go mug. Several mention friendly, chatty staff and quick service, though one felt a single staff member was less welcoming. Recurring caveats are a long queue on sunny days, minimal seating and prices on the pricier side. The most serious complaint comes from one reviewer who reports finding small hairs in their gelato on two visits. A staff member replaced the first scoop, but the second was only noticed at home.

“The gelato is great and the flavours are unique. However that’s twice now that I’ve found small hairs in my gelato. First time I quietly mentioned it to a staff member and they gave me a new scoop. But then it happened again and I only noticed once I was home. Once is understandable but twice? Won’t be buying from here again sadly.”

“Amazing gelato, the best I've tasted outside of Italy. Lots of different and seasonal flavours which are changed on a regular basis. Fabulous coffees and hot chocolate options.. Vegetarian and vegan friendly options. Dog friendly. Be prepared to queue at peak times especially on a sunny day.”

“The ice cream was really good — definitely worth trying. It is on the pricier side, though. The atmosphere in the store felt vibrant and warm, which made it a nice place to sit and enjoy it. The staff were really sweet overall, although there was one person who didn’t seem the most welcoming — just a vibe I picked up, nothing major.”

“Last week brought some sunshine – unlike the Easter weekend – so I took that as a sign to treat myself to a scoop (or two) from Lag Gelatessa. Two scoops, £4.95: • Waffle Party – cinnamon butter gelato, blueberry ripple & waffle chunks • Almond, coconut & white chocolate Waffle Party was the standout – loved the cinnamon warmth with sweet blueberry and proper chunks of waffle. The almond, coconut & white choc was super creamy and rich, with the white chocolate more like a sauce running through it. Both were great on their own and even better together. Loved the inventive flavours – they’ve got a few classics, but most are ones you don’t usually see. I’m a Loop & Scoop fan, but this place is serious competition.
