Quick info
About Super Wok
Super Wok is a Chinese takeaway on Duke Street in Parkhead, in Glasgow's east end, run for collection rather than eating in. The rice list is deliberately short, with fried rice served plain, no egg or vegetables, and boiled rice as the only other choice, which suits anyone who prefers rice without either mixed through. Noodle dishes include beef chow mein, and thin noodles can be requested; salt and chilli chicken and salt and pepper king prawn also appear on the menu. Satay sauce comes either on the side or poured over a dish. Orders are phoned through or placed at the counter, so no booking is taken and customers collect for eating off site. Curry dishes and a meal deal sit alongside the main menu. The shop trades in the evenings and closes on Wednesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Chow mein anchors most of the praise here, singled out as good value in its beef version and named again as a go to favourite alongside the curry, which one regular calls not too spicy and prefers to anywhere else in the east end. Close behind sit the salt and chilli chicken with thin noodles and the salt and pepper king prawn, both ordered with satay sauce that reviewers found tasty, and Hong Kong style chicken and spare ribs each draw a return promise. The rice divides opinion, with one diner warning off the fried rice for having no egg and another disappointed by the lack of vegetables, while the sweet and sour sauce is described as artificial, like cordial rather than real sugar and vinegar. One reviewer reports food poisoning after eating. Phone ordering draws the sharpest complaint, an order repeated three times and long holds, though others describe a stressed counter and rude customers, and one recounts a wrong sauce sorted out on arrival.

“Normally I don’t write reviews but I was in on friday, poor girl was so stressed out and bursted into tears, she explained the phone line was down and they had to use a different mobile phone, the shop was quite busy as well. unfortunately I witnessed 2 customers being extremely rude to her for being asked to hold on the phone for 2 minutes, especially the older woman with the wild dark pink hair, your attitude was appalling and disgusting😡😡 I heard from others that you’re always causing problems, seen you sometimes in the nail shop next door and the attitude switch up is crazy. I could tell the girl was trying so hard to take as many orders too, if you’re not happy, then maybe go somewhere else? If the girl sees this, you didn’t deserve that and I hope the rest of your shift is easier after♥️ don’t let this ruin your day, some people in Parkhead are just absolutely ridiculous!!”

“We enjoyed our takeaway - salt and pepper king prawn with boiled rice and chicken and mushroom with fried rice. Satay sauce on the side was tasty too. Reasonably priced and quick take away service. We’ll be back.”
