Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the light bite seafood platter, praising its fresh fish, whitebait, prawns and calamari, the huge portions and the value, with the kids' fish bites also getting a mention. Friendly service comes up repeatedly, including one server who kept a busy room moving on her own. Fish and chips and a veg-heavy range of dishes draw more mixed views. One reviewer found the batter on a seafood combo thicker than the fish, with salmon and scampi missing at first, and another said the scampi batter was greasy. The vegetarian Pendang curry was called quite poor, a veg lasagne was described as mostly cheese, and a few ask for more vegetarian and vegan choices. The harshest reviews describe a reheated steak, cold sauces and peas, frozen chips and cold garlic bread, and a steak served dry after the kitchen turned out to have no garlic butter. One wheelchair user found the inside too narrow, though the landlord offered to open a side door, and takeaway meals became the routine for the rest of that week.

“Good tasty fish platter, my wife had the veg lasagne which she said was mosty cheese , not much veg in it. Could do with an extra few vegan dishes.”

“Terrible place, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. Two of us went for food. We entered and the place was completely empty. Despite this we were seated at a 2-person square table tucked in a corner, sat at 90 degrees to each other. Due to the design of the table this meant one of us couldn't even put our legs under. So, we had to ask to sit at another table. One of us ordered scampi and chips. The other ordered a steak, and asked for it to come garlic butter. When the food arrived only then were we told there is no garlic butter. With no suitable alternative this meant the meal was dry. It wouldn't have been chosen had we known the kitchen didn't even have garlic and butter. The waitress clearly didn't care. The scampi and chips arrived with sachets of sauce buried under the food, the batter on which was drowning in grease, so, so were the sachets. Due to our timetable we persevered and ate what we could, a dry steak and scampi with the batter removed. It was just the two of us in an otherwise empty room without even any music playing. The waitress went through the motions of asking if the meal was OK. When I said "not really", she just walked away. An awful place, one of the worst I've been to in my 50 years.”

“We ate here a few weeks ago on a short break. We both had starters and 'light' main course of chicken and fish which were really good (plus beer). There was only one young girl dealing with about 25-30 diners but she did an amazing job of keeping everything moving; welcoming and seating new arrivals, taking orders, bringing food and drinks, clearing tables and taking payments! Whatever they're paying her, it's not enough. She's an absolute star!!!”

“This place is SO YUMMY! The landlord was so friendly and helpful about accommodating my wheelchair. The front door isn't wheelchair accessible so she offered to open a larger side door. However, the inside was far too narrow for a chair and the bathroom was completely inaccessible in a chair so I opted to walk with assistance on the 1st visit. Then the food was so delicious we just did take away from there the rest of the week 😋 HIGHLY RECOMMEND 😋”

“We had lunch here yesterday and we had the light bites seafood platter and the kids fish bites everything was delicious 😋 The service and atmosphere was great, the lady that served us was very friendly and even though she was very busy she was still very attentive and coped well the phone rang so many times whilst she was servicing bless her! Thank you for making us feel very welcome 😊”
