  “The food is so delicious and the portion is very large (personal view)! The lady prepared all food by herself, so be patient with her but they're freshly made. I love the decoration of the tearoom, which they give me sort of vintage vibe!!!”

  “Date of visit: 2/05/2026 Price: £18.50 Order: Mango, strawberry, pineapple juice; scrambled spiced tofu on toast; middle-eastern style white bean stew. Rating: 4.5 / 5 (Google won't allow half-stars) Thoughts: I stumbled across this place whilst hungover and incredibly in-need of some revitalising food. I couldn't have made a better choice. This little tearoom is not only a heartwarming place to sit and watch the world go by, it's operated by someone who puts their heart into absolutely everything they make. I couldn't get over the wealth of vegan options, so decided to order two as a treat. Not only was the owner also the chef, but they were doing all of the FOH operations too, and they warned me that the portion sizes were nice and big - which was exactly what I wanted to hear. The spiced tofu was incredibly made, the exact texture it should be with nice clumps of tofu and plenty of more liquidy 'scramble' full of rich sweet spice. The tomatoes were a nice touch and gave a tarty sharpness to cut through the rich seasoning on the tofu. This notwithstanding, the tofu would have benefitted from less black pepper and perhaps using less of it, but dry-toasting it first, would help prevent some parts feeling over-seasoned. I would also enjoy seeing three slices of bread so that the bread isn't too inundated with liquid. The white bean stew was beautiful. It came with seasoned flatbread which diversified the textures at play and allowed me to select each component to taste individually. The stew was emulsified well, deep in tomato flavour and had a fore-note of rasin-y sweetness. In parts, it also felt over-seasoned if not eaten with some of the bread to soak up the flavour. The rocket on the side also helped diversify the flavour, too. The best part about all of this is the price-to-portion ratio. I felt thoroughly impressed by the offer here when taken as a whole. This place has a lot of love put into it and really warmed my heart to be eating good, hearty homemade food in a cosy environment and with such excellent service. Overall, I really was very impressed and have recommended to people many times.”

  “If you want to experience old-school England, this little place is a must. Small, simple, and full of charm, with a lovely cosy feel. Perfect for breakfast, brunch or lunch, then it closes for the day. The food was incredible: generous portions, very affordable, and delicious. Even the English tea was enough for three! It can get very busy, and everything is freshly prepared, so expect a bit of a wait.”

  “Honeycomb Tearooms We came across this little cafe whilst heading to a Fringe Show and stopped off for breakfast. Whilst we totally agree that the food is delicious and the portion sizes huge, we find it hard to believe that the person running the place, albeit single handed, could actually be the owner. She made us feel most unwelcome there with a quick raise of the eyebrows when we walked in and remained monosyllabic throughout. Like other reviewers on here, we spent our time there wondering what on earth we could have done to upset her! It wasn’t as if she was rushed off her feet at the time as there was only a group of three in there with us. If you can get past this and hang in there, the food really is amazing. We had the homemade granola with yoghourt and berries and the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Delicious, huge and very filling. Give it a try - you just might find the owner on a good day!”

  “Had breakfast at Honeycomb Tearoom in Edinburgh and really enjoyed the experience. I ordered the Cinnamon Apple French Toast along with a latte. The French toast was delicious, and the portion size was huge—far more than I could finish! The tearoom itself is very cute and cozy, with charming decor and a welcoming atmosphere. It is fairly small inside, though, so it seems best suited for individuals or groups of one to two people rather than larger parties. My latte was good, but one thing to note is that they don’t offer flavored syrups, so keep that in mind if that’s something you typically enjoy in your coffee. The food arrived quickly, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. If you’re looking for a cozy breakfast spot with generous portions and cute vibes in Edinburgh, Honeycomb Tearoom is definitely worth a visit.”

  “Came here and the food is great! I ordered the scrambled eggs and bacon and was pleasantly surprised by the portion! It was big and filling and the eggs were delicious and the bacon very crispy. I also had a pot of the moonflower tea and it's one I will have to have again, although I hope to come back and try the other teas the place has to offer! Oh and the teacups are so cute!”

  “If you walk in and don’t see any customers, don’t be put off. The tea list is extensive and brewed deliciously and the menu is creatively cultivated. Every item we had was incredible and plentiful. Highly recommend!”

  “As I entered the first person in the morning I was not entirely sure whether it‘ll be a good idea to stay seeing the empty counter and the lady not so enthusiastic about my arrival. I didn’t have the time though to look for an other place so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the savoury waffles with avocado mash, salmon and poached eggs. It really was the best breakfast, all flavours in and the portion is HUGE! /my next meal was after 5pm/ In just 20 minutes the place was full and as she was alone it took time for the others to get served. But if you are not in a hurry and have patience it is definitely worth it!”

  “Came here for breakfast today after perusing nearby places to our hotel. I am so very glad we chose this place. Arrive with an empty stomach as the portion sizes are plentiful! The woman who runs/cooks/makes drinks/etc was lovely, and I give full respect for being a one woman show- and a fantastic one at that! My partner and I were tempted by the pancakes but instead settled on something a bit lighter on the stomach. I went for the yoghurt, fruit and homemade granola and my partner the porridge with berries and honey. We also shared toast with marmalade, thinking we wouldn’t be full with a wee bowl! How wrong we were! The granola was perfect- not hard enough to break your teeth but not overly soft either, mixed well with the yoghurt and I could tell the fruit was fresh. I was very sad I couldn’t finish. My partner also enjoyed his porridge and we both agreed though we didn’t need the toast, it would be rude not to try it! The coffee was great too, however on my next visit I would love to try one of the many teas available. I highly recommend this gem to anyone wanting a hearty breakfast in somewhere that feels like your grandmas kitchen- warm, inviting, a hot cuppa and something to fill you up!”

  “I was very excited to visit here based on other reviews. The atmosphere in the shop was a little gloomy, but I tried not to let that affect my experience... until my flat white arrived. I can say I've definitely never had a flat white like that before. Some redeeming factors were the tasty full breakfasts, and the absolutely giant size of the pancakes.”
