  “I went to this family run business on my birthday for lunch. I can’t recall who gave me the recommendation but oh boy I am glad they did. Also, 5 stars on Google with over 500 reviews is almost unheard of. The little shop was busy but we were fortunate enough to get a table. Upon entering I felt like I was transported to Italy with its authentic and causal feel. Despite the busyness the staff were singing and clearly enjoying themselves. One of the owners came and chatted to us and gave us a little history of the business. We learnt that many of the ingredients get imported in from Italy to ensure quality and proper authenticity. They have a menu board with all their sandwiches using Tuscan Schiacciata bread. Something I have never had before but very keen to try. Each schiacciata is made fresh and they were able to cater for my slightly fussy wife by adjusting the fillings to satisfy her preferences. I went with the special which was recommended by one of the ladies. It was called Sapori Di Mare. Which was a schiacciata filled with anchovy, stracciatella, lemon, tomatoes and greens. The sandwich was wonderful! The flavours worked well together but the star of the show was the bread. Quite possibly the best bread I’ve ever had. It was thinner than focaccia and certainly lighter. It was incredibly crispy but with a soft centre. It wasn’t too doughy and stodgy which focaccia can sometimes be bad for. It didn’t miss on taste either with an almost fruity flavour with hints of pepper and not overpowering of salt. Just right. It is a perfect carriage for sandwich. I don’t dislike anchovies but it’s not my favourite filling so next time I will try one of their classics. After some reflection with my wife she confirms that her schiacciata was the best sandwich she has ever had. As for me…it’s certainly up there. Probably my no1 if I had chosen a favourite filling. Just gives me a reason to come back. We also got a hot chocolate each and this was surprisingly delicious too. It tasted like real proper hot chocolate with top quality cacao. It was rich, a perfect amount of bitterness to balance out the sweetness. The texture was velvety. As you would expect, the price is not quite your Tesco meal deal but I have absolutely no gripes paying for something this good! I 10000% need to come back here.”

  “Absolutely amazing sandwiches sold here! They are huge and packed with delicious fresh ingredients. I went for the tropea, and It had delicious calabrese salami and soft cheese inside of it. The nduja inside had a good kick to it with the caramelised onion providing a bit of sweetness. All of the sandwiches looked delicious. It had a real authentic feel to the shop, with fresh produce for sale in the fridges as well. It's a small shop with not much seating inside, but there's seats outside. The Italian sandwiches here one of the best I've had around the world. Definitely come here if you're in Edinburgh!”
