About La Casa - Leith
La Casa - Leith is a Mediterranean restaurant in Edinburgh, at 297 Leith Walk, built around Spanish and Greek tapas and mezze. A set sharing menu brings a selection of small dishes to the table, and the plates are shared between everyone seated. Tortilla sits among the tapas, fried cheese dishes appear alongside it, and mussels come in a tomato-based sauce. Vegetarian options are also on the menu. The dining room is glass-fronted with large windows, and specials are written on a board. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the shared tapas and mezze plates, with the fried cheese dishes and the tortilla singled out as highlights. Close behind are the chicken, meatballs, lentil soup, calamari, octopus and mussels in a tomato sauce, plus a mezze selection and a sharing menu that several call good value and generous in portion. The vegetarian choice is described as excellent, and the glass-fronted dining room is called light and airy. Staff are mostly called friendly and quick, and one mentions a family-run feel with "mama" in the kitchen. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the chicken with mushrooms swimming in a gloppy, overly salty cream sauce, with undercooked fries and no vegetable side. Her husband's sea bass came with mussels that the menu didn't list, though he found the fish delicious. She was never asked about drinks after water arrived. Another says the servers seemed uninterested, though the food was outstanding. A diner who ordered fries, chicken and meatballs to share finished with a mocktail that tasted great.

“Really good with lots of food. We had so much we couldn't finish and really loved it. We took the players to share and this was more than enough! Price wise it's good given the quality and quantity you get, but that's likely because it's further away from the city centre (which is good!). I'd definitely recommend you checking it out if you're travelling to Edinburgh.”

“I was prepared to love this place, as I had seen a reel on IG about it, but I was not very impressed with what I ordered. I got the chicken with mushrooms, and it was just swimming in a gloppy cream-based sauce that was way too salty. It came with fries, which were kind of undercooked for my taste, and no vegetable side dish. My husband got the sea bass. It had mussels with it, which he was not expecting, since they weren't listed as part of the dish. He doesn't typically eat shellfish, and would've asked them to leave them off had he known. The fish was delicious, however, so that is one good thing, and it came with a small salad on the side. We were never asked if we wanted anything to drink after water was brought to the table, which I thought was kind of weird. I had wanted a coffee, but decided not to bother when the server never asked. Just a weird and disappointing experience after all the hype on IG. Oh well.”

“We had amazing food here! The servers were completely uninterested in the job which did take the edge off the place but the food was outstanding 🙌”

“An unplanned Thursday evening meal and it was absolutely delicious. We’ve visited before when staying close by and I have also been to the Dalry restaurant many times. Food was exceptional - fresh, great portion sizes, beautifully presented - and the service was prompt and attentive. A really relaxed evening and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re close by.”
