About Kim's Mini Meals
At 5 Buccleuch St in Edinburgh, Kim's Mini Meals is a family-owned Korean restaurant built around galbi stew served in a claypot. The menu also includes sundubu jjigae, with a vegan version for diners who want it without meat, and a kimchi pancake (pajeon). Customers choose their own spice level when they order. Set meals come with banchan, including kimchi, plus a bowl of rice. The dining room is small, and dinner usually has a wait. The restaurant opens Monday to Saturday and closes on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the Korean set meals, with the galbi stew in a claypot, the pork ribs and broth, and the bulgogi named as standouts, and a vegan sundubu jigae also earns praise. Close behind come the banchan and pickle starters, though one reviewer found the kimchi great but sparse, with extra portions charged. Many describe fast service, affordable meals, and a choice of spice level, though one says a mild ramen was still very spicy while another found the maximum not very hot. The complaints are specific: a kimchi pancake that smelled of old frying oil, a seafood noodle bowl with tiny amounts of seafood, a pancake served warmed up and not crispy, and dry bulgogi on one visit. The room is described as tiny, crowded, and extremely hot in summer with no fan or open window, and one reviewer mentions a significant wait given its popularity. Another reviewer praised the pad jeon as very crispy.

“One of the highlights of our trip. The service is great, responsive and fast. We waited no longer than 5 minutes to be served after ordering. The food is great, there are a lot of options, for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. For the quality of everything, it is very affordable (£19 for a main meal and a drink). It left such an impression we came back to eat a second time. Do yourself a favor and try it out!”

“The food was alright not amazing and not bad. The side dishes especially kimchi were great but so little of them. Extra charge of the same size of kimchi as in the picture if you want more. We went during summer and the place was extremely hot and there is no fan and no open window with only a cool water provided.”
