About The Persevere Bar

The Persevere Bar is a bar and grill in Edinburgh at 390 Easter Rd, locally called "The Percy". Inside, the pub keeps a conserved original interior built around a double horseshoe bar. The kitchen serves pub classics such as fish and chips and sausage and mash, and an adjoining Polish restaurant next door puts Polish dishes on the menu alongside them. At the bar, the drinks list covers whisky and beer, including several Polish beers, with wines and cocktail specials. Several TVs and sport screens show live sport. Live music plays at the bar too, and staff may ask for ID there.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the food, with hearty, generous portions of homely pub cooking. The fish and chips and the sausage and mash get particular praise, while others name the chicken dish, the beef steak and the burger. Polish dishes from the neighbouring restaurant draw approval from a few first-timers, and one group of six all enjoyed theirs. Close behind is the bar itself, described as a beautiful old wooden pub with a double horseshoe counter so good one reviewer thinks it should be listed. Diners also mention a wide choice of whiskies and beers, including several Polish ones, and sport on the screens alongside a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Service is repeatedly called friendly and attentive, and dogs are welcome. Several say the drinks and meals are very reasonably priced, and one reviewer notes a gin and lemonade as a standout bargain. No review raises a complaint. One mentions food cooked fresh to order, and another says the staff asked for ID at the bar.

“We love it here! The pub is great for a quiet midweek drink and lunch, watching sports or Friday date night with food, drinks and live music (which was fab!). We also ate recently with friends in the restaurant and all six of us enjoyed the polish food we had. Atmosphere is great & relaxed, staff are lovely, service is brilliant. It’s one of our fave pubs 👍🏼”

“A great pub. Beautiful old bar, good beer at very reasonable prices. Didn't have the food but heard it is also very good. Nice buzzy atmosphere when I was in on a Sunday afternoon, loads of locals just having a nice time.”
