Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff, with bartenders and waiters described as helpful and informative. One pair of tourists credits a bartender with patiently guiding them through Scotch whisky. Drinks come close behind: cocktails are called lush, the Guinness is called good, and the pints are described as cold. Others mention gluten free options, local delicacies on the menu, and a live guitarist. Groups and solo travellers both say they felt at home, and one visitor liked it enough to return the next day. The complaints centre on cost and one dish. One reviewer called the price of a pint criminal and wished it had been stated clearly, while another found it slightly pricey. A diner who ordered the fish reports that water poured out when it was broken open, the inside was not warm, and it went unfinished.

“Great place for groups but also for solo travellers. I found the food and cocktail choice very appealing, I was curious to taste a lot of the dishes they have on the menu, including local delicacies. The waiters were genuinely friendly and helpful.”

“Wonderful dinner for our first night in Edinburgh. Our waiter Adam was very friendly and cheerful. Everyone in the restaurant was just as happy and cheerful. The menu was delicious and place was unique. Highly recommend.”

“£8:50 for a pint is criminal. I almost had a heart attack and asked him to put it back in the barrel. I'm aware Edinburgh is a tourist city but if your prices are that high please state it obviously so we know what we're getting ourselves into. Aside from that I loved that there was a live guitarist on”

“I Don't usually do poor reviews but the fish I got here was not good, as soon as I broke it open with my fork water poured out, the insides where not the warmest, I didn't finish it, on the up side I got a good pint of Gunness”
