About Goose on the Green
Goose on the Green is a cafe on The Strand in Deal, at number 27, overlooking Walmer Green and the coast beyond. The breakfast and brunch menu runs from a large breakfast to American pancakes and omelettes, with toasties such as ham and cheese and chorizo and cheese on the lunch side. Food is cooked fresh to order, so a wait can build at busy times. The coffee is a Brazil and Colombia bean mix that the cafe says is exclusive to it in the area, and a full licence means wine and bottled beers are served alongside it. Dogs are welcome, and the team can cater for food allergies with gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian choices. Free parking sits outside.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for fresh-cooked breakfast and brunch built on quality local ingredients, with the cheese and chorizo toastie, big fluffy American pancakes and the large breakfast singled out by name. Portions are described as massive, and a good omelette comes with a fresh mixed salad, though one reviewer found it under-seasoned. Several call the coffee excellent, while one found the espresso sour and undrinkable and the orange juice poor. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and welcoming. The café is busy enough that one reviewer suggests booking, and food can be slow to arrive at peak times. The sharpest complaint comes from one visitor who waited at the door in a quiet café, called an omelette with no toppings overpriced, and said the owner raised her voice and blamed a customer who tripped on a white-painted ledge. Other reviewers describe owners who stop to chat with customers, and one family came back every morning of their holiday after staff played with their son.

“I’ve been coming to The Goose on the Green for years, but since the new owners took over I’ve found myself visiting much more often. The staff are always welcoming, the food is lovely, and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. One thing that really stands out is the owner, who always takes the time to chat and thank customers for their support. It’s those little personal touches that make you feel genuinely valued. I’m always happy when I visit and will definitely continue to come back. My favourite place to go in Deal! Highly recommended!”

“Absolutely amazing food. I had the American pancakes, so big and fluffy, delicious. My husband had the large breakfast and said it was quality and the best breakfast he has had in a long time. Definitely recommend.”

“We stopped for a quick brunch at Goose on the Green while passing through Walmer and it was exactly what we were hoping for. The food was lovely, freshly prepared and beautifully presented, with quality local ingredients clearly at the heart of what they do. The coffee was excellent too. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to chat about the local area and make us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The café itself has a relaxed seaside feel, overlooking Walmer Green and the coast beyond. We were also lucky enough to meet the young couple who own the business and they were absolutely lovely, passionate about what they’ve created and genuinely interested in their customers. If you’re looking for a great breakfast, brunch or coffee stop around Deal and Walmer, we’d happily recommend it. A friendly independent café doing exactly what it says on the tin. We’ll definitely be back.”

“Shockingly poor ‘espresso’, undrinkable. No understanding of how it should be made or served. Sour, overly acidic and devoid of depth and with zero crema! What are they playing at? Their coffee bean/roast is just not suited to espresso. Good omelette, although under-seasoned but served with a masterfully prepared and fresh mixed salad. Ghastly orange juice. Odd to have two speakers playing different music channels.”

“What can I say, I cannot fault my experience here, so much so, we returned the next weekend too! I visited with my two children and we all were happy, fed and well looked after. The food here is outstanding, quality ingredients, at a fair price. The atmosphere is calm, cozy and relaxing. The staff are extremely helpful, nothing is too much trouble, friendly and remembered us when we returned which made us feel so welcomed. I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment as they are always busy that reflects their fantastic establishment. The food is cooked fresh to order and at busy times there may be a short wait, but nothing a good conversation and their lovely beverages can't fill. This is our new go to place for a healthy guilt free brunch, highly recommend and family friendly.”
