Customer Review Summary

Slow-cooked meat is the main draw, with reviewers praising tender, flavourful meat that falls off the bone, plus the sharing platter for two and the smokehouse platter for one. Mac and cheese comes close behind, and one reviewer calls it the best they have had in the UK. Others single out a brisket sub, a frankfurter hotdog and a very sweet FroCo with honeycomb, toffee fudge pieces and butterscotch sauce. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, and several birthday visits were marked with a celebration, though one table's cake with a candle never arrived. Service draws some mixed notes, with one reviewer finding servers polite but prone to disappearing after the first order. One diner familiar with American barbecue found the portions small and the taste short of expectations. A pescatarian's husband wished for more fish options beyond the salmon. Families describe a server handing out colouring books and setting a challenge for the kids, and a baby changing room stocked with baskets of nappies and wipes.

“Visited tonight with my partner and our 3 kids, had to wait for about 10-15 minutes for a table so we waited at the bar and our kids were fascinated watching the ladies make drinks. After we got to the table, we were greeted by RiRi and she was our server for the night. She was the nicest lady ever, she gave our children colouring books and pencils. After taking our order, she gave our older boys a challenge which got their heads to the table and they loved it! She gave them a treat afterwards for finishing the challenge and I think they were loving her! 10/10 would come back just to be served by her!! I'd also like to note that the baby changing rooms here are on another level. With having a 17 month old, there's always an unexpected nappy change so we were prepared however going into the changing room, there were baskets full of nappies, baby wipes and nappy bags and it was the first time I've ever seen a restaurant do this. I was pleasantly shocked and happy about this. All in all, we had a wonderful visit, especially having children with us and we will definitely be coming back!! Thank you so much.”

“Visited for birthday. Food was really good. Staff were very friendly, efficient and approachable. I had Brisket sub which was really tasty. I had FroCo with honeycomb, toffee fudge pieces and butterscotch sauce... Amazing but very, very sweet! Would happily go again”

“Just had dinner at Hickory's and had a really nice time. All the staff there are so nice, friendly, and helpful, a great team. Just got off the train from London and looking for some food and a drink and this fitted the bill. I only had the hotdog and a side of Mac and Cheese and my wife who is pescatarian went veggie and had baked potato, cheese and coleslaw with a side of garlic mushrooms. We really enjoyed our food and the dog was a frankfurter and not a sausage which made me very happy. So many places say hotdog and instead you get a sausage in a bun! Our server was Jack H and he was great as was the girl who brought our drinks out. I have been to the Hickory's in Chester but first time in Crewe but would recommend and will definitely go back. The only reason I gave 4 stars for food is that there could be more fish options. Tge Big Easy in London has Jumbo shrimp and lobster either as a roll or just grilled. So not sure why Hickory's couldn't. It's the only thing that would stop me going regularly, as my wife would have such a limited choice. Come on Hickory's add some seafood to the salmon on the menu.”

“My son wanted to try an authentic American diner and everything about Hickorys was absolutely spot on. The welcome, service, atmosphere and food were all brilliant. The culture and training of the team is as good as I have seen for genuine from the heart service. 5 star for that product. Particular thanks to Meg D our server - what a star! Normally avoid chains and support small businesses, but this brand deserves every bit of success.”

“Cool place, great vibe! Love the story behind the restaurant: that the owners travel the USA to get best recipes and dishes! PS Come hungry! Best Mac n Cheese Ive had in the UK so far!”
