Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the draw reviewers raise most, with several describing servers who were welcoming, polite and helpful, and one group of eleven praising how the kitchen and bar were organised for their festive meal. Food gets a more mixed response. From the festive menu, diners liked the cheesy bacon mushrooms, pate, salmon starters and the sea bass, and called the mint tart the nicest dessert, while others found the turkey dry, the sprouts bland, the potatoes tough and the crumble undercooked. Elsewhere, a schnitzel was judged just alright, a chicken pie was not the best, and an ultimate burger needed more chilli sauce. Complaints recur about value and portions: one family called three burgers tiny and said plates were not cleared before dessert, and a baby shower guest described a buffet of breaded mushrooms, chips and chicken strips as a letdown. The garden is liked, though some picnic benches were wobbly, and one diner noted staff warned them the kitchen was closing so their order went in on time.

“Today I attended a baby shower here. Baby shower was lovely, buffet a real let down. We paid £14 a head, for a hot and cold buffet, hot food was breaded mushrooms 3 plates, chips 2 bowls, super skinny chicken strips 3 plates. Cold buffet was a plate of pitta breads cut into half and 3 dips and a bowl of mixed salad leafs. People did complain and where told there was enough food to feed 19 people, who where adults. I am not alone in thinking I was ripped off, I honestly felt that at £14 a head, there would have been more food, we were all saying we were very disappointed with the offering, needless to say, I will not be recommending them to anyone for functions etc and I personally will not go there again.”

“We had a good meal here as a family catch up. We walked in with no booking. Luckily it was only a Monday evening and it was quiet. Mikey was friendly and welcoming and we had excellent service. Sam brought over food and drinks as well and was also a lovely asset to the team. My chicken pie wasn’t the best. But everyone else enjoyed their food. Thank you Coaching Halt!”

“Staff were lovely. Kitchen closed early at 8pm but staff advised us so we could get our food order in on time. Very nice food. Food and drinks a little on the pricey side, but so is everything nowadays. No A/C inside in a heatwave so we sat outside. Lovely garden area. Some of the picnic benches need some tlc as they were quite wobbly when sat on. Overall, really nice time.”

“We came for Sunday early dinner for my father in law’s birthday. Chloe served us and was brilliant from start to finish. Funnily enough, Chloe was a student at the junior school I worked at about 9 years ago so it was nice that we both recognised each other. The food was brilliant - there were 4 very empty adult plates and one fairly empty toddler plate too. Very happy with the service, the food and the atmosphere. Thank you!”
