Quick info
About Jade House
Jade House is a Chinese takeaway in Coventry, at 8 Binley Rd. The menu covers the familiar takeaway range, with sweet and sour chicken alongside egg fried rice and beef chow mein. Singapore rice noodles sit among the noodle and rice dishes, and a chicken balls and chips box meal gives a set option for one. Starters include spring rolls in vegetable and Thai-style chicken versions, plus prawn toast, and chicken and sweetcorn soup is on the list too. The kitchen serves evenings only and closes on Tuesdays.

Customer Review Summary
Reviews split sharply on Jade House, and the most repeated complaint is the batter-heavy, greasy cooking. Several describe salt and pepper chicken and pork as mostly batter, and one reviewer found the Kung Po chicken to be brick-hard batter with no chicken inside. Yet salt and pepper chicken with chips and curry sauce is a regular order for another, who calls the quality constant. Singapore noodles draw criticism for being oily and tasting only of cheap soy, and chicken balls are described as having no chicken in them. Chips are called stale or still frozen in the middle, and the sweet and sour chicken is called overcooked and extremely sweet. Praise centers on the chicken chow mein, wontons and spring rolls, plus a large, boiling hot chicken and sweetcorn soup and a good duck. Vegetable spring rolls get a nod even in a harsh review. One regular says the prawn crackers and seaweed have tasted off lately, and another wonders why orders have stopped being accepted on Just Eat, since the kids are unhappy.

“Usually the food is good but lately the prawn crackers taste off also the seaweed. I don't know if they change chef or oil but not the same . The rest of my meal was lovely and delicious. Ian”

“Ordered on uber. Chicken and sweetcorn soup big portion, boiling hot, lots of chicken. Duck also good and big portion. Prawn toast wasn't the best, was more like frozen ones you get from the shop”

“I ordered, and the food was average at best. The beef chow mein was too saucy/sweet. I only really liked the beef inside but overall it's an average i guess. But the salt and pepper pork, and salt and pepper chicken are bad! It's mostly batter on it. This is actually the second chinese restaurant that's giving me battered chicken/pork when i order. Why not say it's battered. Reslly not happy with this as i could have just prdered something else if it was clear it would be battered. This should clearly be stated.”
