About BBQ Lounge and Shisha
On Haven Rd in Colchester, BBQ Lounge and Shisha is a restaurant built around tables fitted with their own BBQ grill, so diners cook skewers and other items themselves at the table. A buffet runs alongside the grill option, with a wide selection of dishes including multiple curry choices, drawn from a menu of 55 items. The Beef Burger, Kebab, and Pulled Pork sit among the offerings, and dessert includes mango kheer and sevaiya kheer. A shisha menu rounds out the visit. The kitchen serves halal food throughout. Step-free access serves visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs make the room workable for families with young children. Outdoor seating is available for those who prefer to eat outside, and free Wi-Fi covers the space. The restaurant opens Monday to Sunday, closing on Tuesdays, and reservations are recommended given the table-side grill setup.

Customer Review Summary
The table-top BBQ and all-you-can-eat buffet draw the most consistent praise, with reviewers repeatedly highlighting the grill-at-your-table setup paired with an extensive spread of curries and mains. Standout dishes named include the Lamb Saag, Prawn and mango curry, mango kheer and sevaiya kheer, and a vegetarian coconut lemon rice praised as outstanding, alongside recommendations for the Katsu chicken and bbq Paneer. The shisha selection, including a blueberry and lychee mix, also earns mentions, and several reviewers single out one host in particular as attentive and kind, though he is not named here. Against this, one review describes the BBQ skewers as dry and bland and the mustard fish as fishy, with dessert called soggy and dry, and that same reviewer reports feeling sick and vomiting after the meal. Most others, however, leave full and satisfied, with several saying they'd return.

“Superb ambience and an impressive variety of food choices! We absolutely loved the experience, and the kids enjoyed every bit of it too. The highlight was definitely the live BBQ, along with the extensive buffet spread. And the desserts—so many options to choose from, all delicious!”

“Lovely ambience and staff were so good, we are vegetarian and they offered coconut lemon rice, which was outstanding .Bbq dishes needs a bit more flavour.”

“Overall a cool concept. The staff were super friendly and the drinks were yummy. The BBQ skewers were super dry and kind of bland and the mustard fish was super fishy (as if it’s been frozen for awhile). The buffet was decent and we enjoyed some of the food from it. Desert was a bit of a let down, soggy fried dough and dry cake and a bit of fruit. Wouldn’t go again. About an hour after leaving I felt really sick and the rest of the evening I was throwing up. The restaurant is beautiful and has so much potential. Just a simple fix of the quality of food and it’ll be sorted.”
