Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often describe a community pub, run by volunteers according to one, where the welcome from staff and locals is the main draw. Real ales come next, with a rotating beer menu that one reviewer says sold over 100 different beers last year, and another mentions three quality real ales on offer. Beers change regularly and are described as very reasonably priced. Several call the atmosphere cosy and friendly, and one visitor from Liverpool recounts the barman recognising his accent and Everton top and telling him he used to live five minutes from his home. Another describes locals holding an 80th birthday party and greeting visitors warmly. A barrel of dog biscuits gets one reviewer's dog's vote. The only drawback raised is the limited opening, Thursday to Sunday, though the same reviewer still calls it well worth going to. Reviewers close on the same note: a few say they wish it were nearer home or would gladly return for a longer visit.

“Popped over to stay for the night for a friend's birthday. Nipped into this little gem for one before tea. Glad I did. Left Liverpool to get away for the night only for the barman to hear my voice and Everton top and tell me he used to live 5 minutes from my house, couldn't write it. Nice and cosy, nice pint, polite fellas, brilliant guy behind the bar. Would definitely recommend.”
