About Arcado Lounge
Arcado Lounge is a British restaurant and lounge bar at 71 High St in Christchurch, serving a 272-dish menu from breakfast into the evening. Separate vegan and vegetarian and gluten-free menus run alongside the main one, and the team provides the gluten-free menu when diners ask about dietary needs. Breakfast, all day breakfast and brunch are on offer, including shakshuka, while the toastie list includes a Brisket Birria Toastie and a Tuna Melt Toastie. Tapas dishes and coffee and other hot drinks are also served. The room has dimmed lights and dark wood walls hung with pictures, with several seating styles and tables that can be shared with other parties. Board games and toys keep families occupied, and dogs are welcome, with treats for them. Food is ordered at the bar on some visits and brought by table service on others.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the separate gluten free and vegan/vegetarian menus, with one gluten free vegetarian finding multiple options and another handed a gluten free menu after being asked about dietary requirements. Close behind are the tapas dishes, with one family ordering nine and another loving the tapas options, while brunch plates like shakshuka, poached eggs with chorizo and pancakes with berries also draw praise for flavour. Friendly staff recur throughout: one server offered chips for a boy with special needs, and another found takeaway containers on a hot day. The atmosphere is called relaxed and inviting, though one reviewer found the dark lighting a drawback. Complaints centre on the kitchen and timing. One breakfast arrived after a long wait with a poached egg missing its yolk, brunch eggs were overcooked with a rock hard flatbread, and one diner who asked twice for a dessert that never came gave up and requested a refund. Another reviewer says they were charged for tap water and offered no receipt. The yolkless egg ended with a refund from apologetic staff.

“Super easy going place for visit. Lots of meal options. Lots of different seating options. Great for a wet day sit and read with coffee or evening with friends and eating. Love the Tapas options.”

“Avoid this place, especially if you want to eat within an 8 hour slot. We shared a table with another couple, and I think that may have confused the ordering process. The main meals came close together, but our dessert deserted us and was never bought across despite asking twice. Gave up in the end and asked for a refund. Food OK, nothing special, standard Lounge fayre, I shouldn't have agreed to the same boredom served elsewhere. However, as said before, service wasnt up to much, at least my local Lounge manages to get the food out to you in a timely manner and doesn't forget you. So, this location is ticked off my list, and I mean OFF, never again, thanks Christchurch, epic fail 🎤💧.”

“I went there for an all day breakfast. Waited about 40 min for it to arrive When it came my poached egg had no yoke just a small piece of egg white. I was offered a refund. The place was very dark inside, really bad lighting. Don't go here if you want a nice peaceful atmosphere. The staff were very nice and apologetic. I definitely won't be going there again. They need to have a word with the kitchen staff. Whoever sent that egg out is definitely not suited for hospitality or the kitchen.”
