Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to friendly, helpful staff in a relaxed cafe and bar that works as a social hub, with choirs, craft workshops, monthly theme nights and cocktail nights mentioned. Food comes close behind: the Victoria sponge muffin and the big cake selection, bean to cup coffee, ice creams and smoothies, big breakfast portions and a vegetarian range described as great. Dogs get water bowls and doggy ice cream, and one group held a party with a silent disco in the garden room. The recurring complaint is upkeep. Two reviewers found the garden poorly maintained or untidy, and one noted tables that hadn't been cleaned. A couple also found prices a little high. The sharpest criticism came from a diner whose bacon, Brie and onion marmalade toastie held just one small piece of bacon. Staff relayed that the chef said it had always been done that way, and the café refunded only part of the cost.

“What a marvellous cafe/bar/social hub on the edge of Chepstow. Friendly, helpful and polite service in a great atmosphere. Well worth the trip out of the town centre. Highly recommended.”

“It’s a perfect place for a take-away coffee or staying in to have lunch. Staff is friendly and attentive. Dogs and children are welcomed. They host different events (choirs, craft workshops, etc..)”

“Beautiful cafe with lots of options for refreshments. We had ice creams and smoothies and really enjoyed.”

“Really lovely little cafe with a nice garden to sit in. The people working here are absolutely lovely and the food was tasty, big portions and reasonable amount of time to come out. Only dropped a star due a bit of housekeeping - the tables hadn't been cleaned and the garden could have done with a bit of a tidy up but nothing to really stress about. Thank you for a lovely breakfast we'll be back soon! X”

“I was really disappointed with my visit. I ordered a bacon , Brie and onion marmalade toastie costing £8.50, but it contained just one small piece of bacon in the middle. For the price, it was extremely poor value for money. I raised my concerns with a member of staff, but was simply told the chef said, "it's always been done like that." The response felt dismissive, with no real attempt to put things right. In the end, I was so disappointed that I asked for a refund because I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The café refunded £7.50, which I appreciate, but I was still left out of pocket and the experience had already been spoiled. It's such a shame because this café used to be a lovely place to visit, and I've always enjoyed supporting local independent businesses. Sadly, based on this experience, I won't be returning unless standards improve.”
