About The Bistro at Little Channels
The Bistro at Little Channels is a restaurant in Chelmsford, set in a rustic barn on Little Channels at the Cliffords Estate and open daily. The barn sits next to a golf driving range and shares its car park, with an overflow car park alongside. Afternoon tea comes with scones and sausage rolls, and the tea and coffee are endless. Hot chocolate can replace the tea. Breakfast and brunch include corned beef hash, while Buffalo Chicken Wings appear on the main menu. The barn is also hired out for weddings and parties, so groups can book the whole space for an event.

Customer Review Summary
Afternoon tea is what most reviewers return for, with the plain scones, sausage rolls, brownies and lemon sponge singled out, and hot chocolate offered in place of tea. One reviewer mentions endless tea and coffee, and another says booking is essential. Close behind is the staff, described repeatedly as friendly and helpful, along with fast service on a Mother's Day visit. Reviewers also name the new Breakfast Muffin, Buffalo Chicken Wings and chips, one calling them the best they have had at a restaurant. The barn setting suits big events, with one party of 50 and a wedding praised, though one office Christmas party found the food bland. Complaints are practical. The car park is shared with a driving range and was packed even with the overflow, and one reviewer says the turning off the country road is easy to miss in the dark. A few note limited vegetarian options and high prices. One diner says the corned beef hash was swimming in oil and left her husband feeling sick, which ended an otherwise tasty family brunch.

“great service, great food, limited veggie options but low-key best chips I've ever had at a restaurant super close to golf course and good ambience price may be high”

“Came for brunch on Sunday. My son and I (he's 13) had a small breakfast, my youngest had chicken nuggets and chips, and my husband had the corned beef hash. The coffee was nice. Mine and my sons' meals were tasty, BUT, my husband's hash was swimming in oil. It was horrible. He said that, at first, the flavours were nice, but as he ate more it just tasted like oil. He showed me the oil at the bottom, and even trying to soak it up with some of my toast didn't help. It made him feel sick and he couldn't get the taste out of his mouth for ages. Such a shame as we spent £60. Another huge problem is parking. It's connected to a driving range and so the two share the car park - even with an overflow car park it was rammed.”
