Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise generous portions and good value, with the chicken ball special (six balls with half chips or noodles and a choice of curry or sweet and sour sauce) named as a regular order. Beef in black bean sauce, beef chow mein and a huge portion of chips are described as arriving piping hot and lovely, and the set menu for two brings repeat orders. Several describe quick delivery, and one mentions a polite driver. The criticism is specific. One diner found the beef and mushrooms swamped by garlic, the egg fried rice cold and clumped, the chicken spring rolls unpleasant and the prawn crackers greasy. Another received dry chips, tasteless chicken and a watered-down sweet and sour sauce. A long-standing customer reports being refused a refund, told to bring the food back on a day the shop was closed, and then blocked after complaining. One reviewer also notes online orders cost far more than ordering in store. Another describes a delivery that arrived with complimentary prawn crackers and chips.

“Always the best Chinese in Carlisle. Love this place. Prices are great. Authentic Chinese couple runs it. Food is always top notch. Been ordering from here for 8 years. Never once had food poisoning, even though I mostly eat the food the next day. Love this restaurant. Really deserves the 5* and more, sad to see some people had a bad experience here so I thought I would give my own opinion. Definitely buy your Chinese here, give it a try at least once, do yourself a favour. It is the best in Carlisle and the prices are great(if you order in the store sadly :-( it is about double price if you order online). I would even give the details to Ramsay to come in and try it, I think the food here is great. God Bless the people of Carlisle, we deserve good food like New Century Chinese!!!”

“First order , quick delivery, But not very good at all, very dry chips , tasteless chicken and a sweet and sour sauce that appeared to be watered down and had very little flavour . Dissapointing!”

“Do not order from here! We’ve been loyal customers for over 15 years, however, have been really mistreated tonight. Despite lot of orders, We have been blocked because of our complaint! We are loyal customers , we have not been taken seriously! I am not one to criticise or put a post on, but this needs to be taken seriously! Nothing To eat- very hungry and no refund!! They said bring the food back tomorrow, however they are not open till Wednesday. We have rung and rung, they hang up!!! Feeling really sad, I wanted to phone to discuss, but they blocked me and every other person I know! I’d pay more better zero!! Totally waste of time and money”
