  “We visited PizzaExpress at Mermaid Quay on Saturday evening and overall had a nice meal. The food we did have was good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. When we were seated, the host did let us know that one item on the menu was unavailable, which we appreciated. However, when it came to ordering, we were quite disappointed to find that several other items were also unavailable, including quite a few options from the starters, mains and desserts. It was frustrating having to repeatedly change our choices as we went through the menu, and it did take away from the experience. It would have been much better to have been made aware of all the unavailable items when we were seated, rather than finding out individually when trying to order them. The food and staff were good, but the lack of availability across so much of the menu was disappointing and definitely affected the overall experience.”

  “Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Came on GCSE results day and ended up saving a staggering 185 pounds! Will definitely come again, and I also recommend it to any others on results days. George and Uzzal were friendly, talkative, and had great service. A quick tip though— book your reservations the day before when planning to bring a large group. We were unable to book on the day with our group.”

  “Waited Tuesday 2.40 for lunch. Nobody bothered to acknowledge us in the foyer, so we tried to take a seat outside. “Can I help you?” Exclaimed the manager with a power trip and headset with an ickle microphone. We explained we going to grab a table outside. Bear In mind the restaurant and outside seating area was empty. The manager then told us to go back to the foyer and wait to be seated. Okay so we did. As we’re then waited and finally reached our table we’re told a server would see to us shortly. Another 10 minutes had passed. Servers were doing everything else other than serving. The managers attitude was abismal with other families too. Obviously can’t handle the heat”

  “I was on my own and was ignored for 10 minutes, while waiting for a table. I said hello to a passing waiter who ignored me , then on his way back he said only the manager could show me to a table . 5 mins later and he reclutantly showed me to a table - the place wasn’t that busy . £18 for a Reine Pizza & £9 for a glass of wine and further waiting to order… so I walked out. The 11” pizzas including a glass of red for £11 seem much nicer at the nearby Weatherspoons . Do you enjoy treating all your single customers like they are invisible ?”

  “We recently used Pizza Express to host a rugby tour group, and honestly, they absolutely smashed it, especially considering it was their first time managing something like this. From start to finish, the service and coordination were epic. Organising a large group of energetic rugby kids (and the adults that come with them!) is no small task, but the team handled it seamlessly. Everything ran on time, food came out efficiently, and nothing ever felt chaotic, which is seriously impressive. The staff were calm, friendly, and completely on it. They struck that perfect balance of being organised while still creating a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The kids were buzzing, well-fed, and looked after, which is exactly what you want on a tour. A huge thank you to the whole team for going above and beyond, especially David, Anh and Uzzal. If this was their first go at hosting a rugby group, I can’t imagine how good they’ll be with more experience under their belt. Would 100% recommend for group bookings, especially sports teams.”

  “Went to pizza express using my vitality 2-4-1 on meals and also 25% off as was allowed to use both in one sitting. Excellent food and staff were soo friendly. Not used to having staff be soo polite nowadays. Thanks to all the staff and manager for squeezing us in but big thanks to Anna who served us”

  “Went here with a group of wheelchair users, managed to get a table with space for all of our chairs although getting around the other tables was a bit of a challenge. We didn't have to wait too long for our table despite being a group. Staff were very helpful, first they madebsure to move the chairs to accommodate the wheelchairs around the table and then coming to check if we needed anything a few times which was great. Food was brought out fairly quickly. Slight wait for the starters. After the plates for the starters were cleared the mains didn't take long to arrive. Due to the location, parking is tricky but there is some available nearby.”

  “It's always been one of my favourite places to go for a pizza - great location & fantastic views over the bay. I'm not sure what has changed, but there was something not jelling on this visit - server was very good & attentive, but food was slow coming out of the kitchen: it was good, but not as good as I know it can be. Top tip: book in advance - you'll thank me, honestly!!”
