About The Cardiff Townhouse

On Hayes Street... The Cardiff Townhouse is a Mediterranean restaurant at 18 The Hayes in the Morgan Quarter of Cardiff. The kitchen cooks Mediterranean food, and the menu includes the Coppa Burger alongside it. Groups are well catered for here, with tables that seat parties of 14 and a separate area set aside for group celebrations, so a large gathering can have its own space. The venue also serves drinks, and it works as a place to meet friends, catch up on work or settle in for a meal.

Customer Review Summary

Friendly, attentive waiting staff are the most repeated praise, with reviewers describing servers who made groups feel welcome and resolved problems once asked. The food draws approval too: croquettes, a superfood salad, a fresh carrot, orange and ginger juice, the Sunday Roast and desserts, an excellently cooked steak, and a lamb dish called particularly delicious. Kitchen consistency is the recurring complaint. One table of 14 received a severely burnt Coppa Burger and was told it was just well done, then got underfried fish and chips as a replacement. Others describe a side arriving only after everything else was finished, missing items, a wine pairing that showed up halfway through the meal, and a very greasy gnocchi. One breakfast of cold unbuttered white toast, one bacon, one sausage and half a tomato was called small for the cost. Still, one diner whose first visit went wrong was invited back and found the second meal faultless.

“The food was good. I had steak and it was excellently cooked. Marked down because service was very slow and I didn't get one of my sides until everything else was finished. Appears to be well staffed and serviced was attentive, but I can only assume the kitchen isn't very efficient. Somewhat disappointing for premium pricing. I would probably go to the Ivy nearby instead.”
  • Paul Graham
“We had a lovely time at Cardiff Coppa. As always, the food was impeccable, tasty. The service was fantastic, and we had a wonderful time. The lamb was particularly delicious”
  • Edward Roberts
“It's a nice place but where's the rest of it? Paid £16.50 for this breakfast. Three breakfasts cost almost £70 with coffee. So small for the cost. Cold unbuttered white toast, half a tomatoe, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 1 mushroom”
  • Carol Pierre
“An absolute gem in Cardiff! The atmosphere is wonderful, the food was exceptionally good, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. I started with the croquettes, which were delicious, followed by the superfood salad — it was extremely fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. To drink, I had the freshly squeezed carrot, orange, and ginger juice, which was super refreshing. Totally worth it. Highly recommend!”
  • Cameron O'Neill
