Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the generous portions of curry, with chicken dishes named repeatedly, including butter chicken, chicken tikka korai and masala, chicken chettinat and chicken dhakeshwari. Close behind come the lamb dishes, such as lamb podina gosht and lamb naga, along with fluffy nan, garlic nan and onion bhajees. Several say the food arrived fresh and tasty, one noting it came on hot plates, and a few say they could not finish their plates. Staff are described as friendly, welcoming and attentive, and many say they were seated without a reservation even when the place was busy. The traditional interior and the old building draw praise too. The one criticism is small: a reviewer found the condiments served with the poppadoms lacking flavour, while another called a different condiment dry-looking but full of flavour. One reviewer who arrived on a Saturday afternoon found every table reserved, yet the manager fitted them in at once, and that reviewer suggests booking in advance.

“Had a great meal with chicken dhakeshwari and aloo begun. Both dishes were well rounded and balanced. Full of flavour, yet not overly greasy or salty. The staff was welcoming and warm. And all of that for a decent price. Recommended to all!”

“Fitted me in although I didn't make a reservation. Staff were all so incredibly nice. Food was amazing. I had the Lamb Podina Gosht with a chapati and Chicken Tikka starter. The curry was the most flavoursome I have ever had. I would come back here in a heart beat”

“We really wanted to eat indian on our last day of our holiday, we walked in here without a reservation, we were greeted very kindly. We had chicken tikka korai and masala, which both tasted amazing, and was more then enough we could not finish it. The staff was more the friendly.”

“Well hands down this is the best Indian restaurant we have visited and we have been to a lot over the years. Not only for the buildings history, but as soon as you walk in the inside is so lovely and the staff are there ready to greet you and we were seated straight away. The menu was as expected very traditional but the execution was on another level with flavours and freshness and plentiful portion sizes. The butter chicken that our son ordered was absolutely amazing not a bit of cream in sight and you could actually taste the butter and the chicken was tender the entire dish was delicious. I had a lamb dish and again cooked to perfection and the different rice dishes we had were lovely and also the nan breads were fluffy and fresh and very tasty. We couldn't eat it all but they were happy to let us take it away and the prices were very reasonable as well. The place was buzzing and the atmosphere was great. The staff were wonderful as well.”
