Quick info
About Swan & Cemetery
Swan & Cemetery is a pub and restaurant at 406 Manchester Rd in Bury, now under new owners and serving a new menu after a renovation. The building is half-timbered with flagged floors, and karaoke nights give the dining pub a second purpose beyond meals. The menu follows a starter, main and dessert format, and a beef Sunday dinner is served. Groups of up to 16 can be catered for, with the food arriving at the same time, and a menu without prices can be provided on request for a group booking. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often credit the food, which several say is much improved since the new owners and the refurbishment, with the beef Sunday dinner singled out as delicious. Close behind is the staff, described repeatedly as friendly and efficient, even when the pub was very busy or hosting a large family birthday where every dish arrived together. One party who ordered three different mains and three sweets found all of them well prepared and well presented. Several describe the renovated room as homely and inviting, and one adds that dogs are welcome. The criticism is narrower but specific. One reviewer left after a prawn cocktail arrived with prawns that were not cold and seemed defrosted, plus a bland Marie Rose sauce. Another enjoyed the meal but found a noisy nearby party inconsiderate and missed the spring rolls, no longer on the menu. Staff helped with a birthday cake and song, and one table's request for menus without prices was met, after which a waitress honestly pointed out a 100% tip left by mistake.

“We were visiting the area and called in chance. What a pleasant midweek afternoon. The staff were very pleasant, attentive and helpful. One of my guests remarked that the meal was well above her expected standard and I must agree. Between us, we had three different mains and three different sweets. All were excellent, well prepared, well presented and efficiently served. I must find an excuse to visit again.”

“This so much better since it's been under new management. The food standard is so much higher as is the service. We absolutely love going there. Thank you so much to the new management and staff for making every visit such a great experience. Also they are very dog friendly.”

“The food was great quality and the flavours were amazing. Myself and my husband both had a starter and main.. we would have had a dessert if we had the room. I couldn’t fault a thing. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere was great and the whole service was fantastic! I will definitely be going back and would recommend to anyone.”

“First visit to the Swan and Cemetery but it won't be our last! Food was excellent. Staff were welcoming and friendly. They accommodated our request to provide menus without prices so that everyone would order what they wanted and not be swayed by the cost. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the very honest waitress who let me know that I had inadvertently left a 100% tip! We would definitely recommend the Swan and Cemetery as a great place to eat.”
