Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often praise the home cooked Italian food at this family-run trattoria. One birthday diner singles out the Calzone and the Chicken Alla Crema, and another says the Biscoff Cheesecake was to die for. Close behind are the friendly, quick staff and a relaxing atmosphere, with several mentioning realistic prices and good value. One diner liked the Primitivo wine and finished with an amaro Montenegro, and another praised the cold beer and large tables with room to spread out. One reviewer notes that Thursdays allow guests to bring their own wine and prosecco. The critical review is specific. That diner believed the restaurant had recently changed owners and found the service poor and haphazard, the pizza base too thick and doughy, and the desserts only okay. They felt the food did not live up to the proper Italian decor and would not return. Another reviewer found the lighting quite dark inside. Even so, one couple were so impressed that they booked their next visit before leaving the table.

“Looks like recently the old owners sold up and new owners have moved in. Service was poor and a bit hap hazard. Pizzas were okay but the base was too thick and doughy. Deserts again were OK but nothing to shout about. The decor is proper Italian which looks spot on. It's just a shame the food doesn't live up to it. It's OK but I wouldn't go back.”

“This is a classic Italian trattoria or cantina - family run as if straight transported from a smaller town (like Burton) from the Italian countryside. Fab & love it!! Marianna is an amazing hostess! And…. The more expensive Primitivo wine is a gem! For afters we had an ‘amaro Montenegro’ - a perfect end to a lovely evening. Will come here again, and not just because it is great value for money. Loving the people running this place!”

“Fantastic. Food and service were great. Lovely home cooked Italian food Only one improvement I would make would be the lighting; it's quite dark inside”
