Customer Review Summary
Coffee is the main draw at this trailer near the station. Reviewers call it gorgeous, delicious and served at the perfect temperature, and one names it the best in the area. Cakes come close behind, with the salted caramel brownie, pistachio cookie and sticky coffee biscoff cake singled out. A matcha latte and an iced chai latte also get praise, as do the tuna and the cheese and ham toasties. The caveats are specific. One reviewer found the coffee short of the rich, flavourful taste others describe, and another wanted more vegan options. One cyclist left disappointed on a hot morning. Only three savoury rolls were on display, a request to warm a sweet potato roll was refused, and so was a request to fill a water bottle. Seating is outdoors in the sun, at the front or round the side of the bike shop. Most reviewers describe the counter staff as polite, friendly and happy to have a chat.

“We’ve been heading to the Absent Pony for the last year or so when in the New Forest. Without doubt it is the best coffee in the area Served at the perfect temperature and with a stunning choice of cakes and snacks. All delivered with a smile. We’ll see you in Polzeath for a coffee one day hopefully.”

“A great little coffee and cake stop away from the bustle of the main high street, but near the station. People say it’s great tasting coffee, though for me I didn’t find it so, and would have preferred a more flavourful rich taste. A lovely selection of cakes however- the salted caramel brownie was very good. Seating at the front or round the side of the bike shop.”

“Very disappointing experience. I arrived there just after 9 am this morning looking for something savoury and a coffee. Lots of sweet stuff on display and just three savoury rolls. I ordered a flat white and asked for a sweet potato rolls warmed up. "We can't warm them up" was the response. So, with no savoury options seeming on offer I ordered banana bread. As I one to recycle my empty cup I saw Toasties on offer, all savoury. I spotted a pannini grill in the truck, red light lit up and asked if it was still warming up and that was the reason for no rolls being warmed. No, "we can't because of cross contamination" was the response. I guess there's no parchment paper available to keep the food off the grill. As I was riding a bike and it was 30c I asked if she could fill my bottle with water. "No, we can't do that". Given that the food truck is sited between a bicycle workshop and a bike shop I was speechless. I'll not return here and suggest that anyone travelling by bike doesn't either. FYI, The Woods Bikes and Brews Cafe in Lyndhurst is excellent and will fill water and warm savoury pastries.”

“BEST TOASTIES EVER!!! me and my friends stopped off here and we had cheese and ham toasties and it was absolutely what we needed. We were served by the amazing Belle who had the best customer service with a beaming smile. Thankyou so much for fueling us up for the rest of the day 🩷”

“Incredible. What a lovely business. Quiet seating area in the sun. The coffee was awesome but the star of the show were the cakes. Pistachio cookie and Sticky coffee biscoff cake. Wow, very tasty. The 2 ladies were incredible, polite, funny and friendly. Amazing. We will definitely be back.”
