Customer Review Summary

Coffee draws the most praise, with reviewers singling out an oat latte served with a shortbread biscuit, a matcha, and a cookie alongside it. The full English breakfast comes next, with crispy bacon and butcher's sausages liked, though one reviewer found the eggs overdone and not dippy. Service splits: some call it excellent, while others describe a long wait for a second meal and a rude exchange with the manager.

“Absolutely the place to come for great coffee, delicious brunch and wonderful service. Indoors is stunning and there’s plenty of outside space too! Before and after photos of my wife’s healthy breakfast and my full English…..with proper butchers sausages!”

“Matcha was delicious! Coffee still open at 19.30 on a Saturday, location has changed its different to what's on google!”

“Only popped in for a drink so cannot comment on rooms but the coffee shop and lounge area were beautiful and the service was excellent. Just off the High Street in Belvedere Road.”

“We chose Smiths for lunch last Saturday (24.1.26). It is a lovely building with a tasteful interior and the menu looked good. The single tables (seating 2) are nice, but too small for a big plate, a drink and a glass of water each, imo. We didn’t get to test this out and a week on I am still shocked at the ‘customer experience’ we received. Having now read previous one star reviews, I can confirm that we experienced every element of rudeness (from Emma, the manager) that has been mentioned in previous reviews in the short time we were in the building. I recommend reading these reviews for a full insight of what you could be walking into yourself if you choose to eat here. I have never experienced anything like it; or felt compelled to walk out of somewhere I wanted to eat based solely on the extreme rudeness. It was incredible to find out it was the manager delivering this. I cannot imagine how uncomfortable it was for the other table of people eating there to witness Emma almost shouting at us as we left. We eat out a lot. Customer service, menu and food quality and ambience are the elements we rate as essential for a good experience. Unfortunately it was an experience I shall never forget for the wrong reasons. What a shame. It could be an amazing business; but not with the current manager. We ate instead at Forno Lounge with a sea view. It was busy and the staff were stretched, but their communication and the service was excellent and the food was great.”

“Came here for breakfast with 2 others. Service and atmosphere were great and such beautiful decor. To drink I had an oat latte and it was delicious, really creamy and came with a little shortbread biscuit. We all went for a Full English which was £13.50 (reasonable price!) Including toast, 1 egg, 2 sausage, 1 bacon, beans, mushrooms and tomato. The breakfast was delicious, sausages were top teir, beans a good brand and the bacon was crispy. The only downfall were we weren't asked for how we would like our eggs (listed as either fried or poached) and when they came the egg pull game was bad, as they were over done and not dippy. The tomato was listed as vine however it was half a tomato and the brown sauce was not HP so a bit watery. However this was a fab breakfast and I would definitely come again.”
