About Symondsbury Kitchen
Symondsbury Kitchen is a countryside cafe on Manor Yard, just outside Bridport, serving breakfast and lunch. The kitchen cooks with vegetables, herbs and fruit from its own garden, eggs from its own hens, and home-reared lamb and pork. Savoury plates include fish pie and a chicken and garlic pesto toastie, and bread and dips come as a starter. Cinnamon swirl cake sits on the cake list and is served with tea and coffee. The team brings food to the table, and bookings are taken in advance.

Customer Review Summary
Fish dishes lead the praise, with the fish and chips called huge and delicious and the fish pie also called delicious. Close behind are a chicken and garlic pesto toastie, coffee with cake, a cinnamon swirl, and bread and dips. One diner called the locally sourced breakfast the best they had ever had. Many stop after climbing Colmers Hill and describe a peaceful setting, a sheltered courtyard, a sunny terrace and a dog friendly welcome inside and out. One gluten-free diner wrote their intolerances on the reservation and found staff helpful with the menu. Service is mixed. One found staff rushed and hard to catch, another described a waitress with a monotone, no eye contact manner, and a third was never told about specials after an item ran out. Several say mains are pricey, and one felt the toastie's sourdough and the chips seemed mass produced. The sharpest complaint is heat: a latte too hot to sip and a fish pie too hot to eat, leaving less than half finished.

“Decent place and a nice venue. However we weren't asked how the meal was, and no one told us that there were specials, even after one of the items we'd ordered wasn't available and we were struggling to find an alternative. There was food on the specials we would've liked but weren't told about their existence. The sourdough in the toastie felt much more like mass made bread from a bag (hovis-style) rather than actual sourdough, which was a disappointing. When a menu says sourdough I would expect higher quality bread. The chips seemed to also be mass produced not freshly cut. Decent but a bit overpriced for what it is.”

“All the ladies will want to meet their friends for tea and cakes here. It caters for breakfast and lunch, and we arrived midday for tea and cinnamon swirl- stunning, gorgeous, amazing venue. However im motivated to leave this review as the dissapointing service let everything down, from a tatooed waitress wirh a couldn't be bothered, monotone, zero eye-contact style. It wasn't particularly busy but we could see others were receiving the same deal. Overall, gorgeous venue, poor service. I would visit again but choose the waiter carefully.”

“Lovely place to stop and have a drink and a bite to eat after the walk to the top of Colmers Hill. Quality food and drink with good service. Dog friendly inside and out. Had the chicken and garlic pesto toastie... devine!”

“I love this cafe & have been many many times. The food is delicious and varied. I have to say that today the latte i ordered was literally boiling hot, it took 20 minutes for it to cool enough for me to sip. Likewise the delicious fish pie, too hot to eat (the waitress warned me it was hot). I was there for 45 minutes & could only sip a little coffee and eat less than half of my fish pie after lots of blowing on the mouthfuls. Food & drinks surely don't need to be molton hot.”

“Countryside cafe open for breakfast and lunch. Our ingredients are as locally sourced as possible... including freshly picked vegetables, herbs and fruit from our garden, eggs from our happy hens and home reared lamb and pork. A beautiful location, just outside of Bridport, to enjoy after a countryside walk.”
