About La Cocina Tapas
La Cocina Tapas is a Spanish restaurant at 11 Nolton St in Bridgend, running since 2015. The menu centres on tapas dishes served for sharing, with a wide range to choose from, including meatballs and flat iron steak. The kitchen sources some ingredients directly from Spain and combines them with produce from local suppliers. Vegan and pescatarian options are on the menu, and dessert is available. The bar pours cocktails, a range of mocktails and house wine. The restaurant opens Tuesday to Sunday and closes on Mondays. Walk-ins are seated at lunch without a reservation, and tables can also be booked in advance.

Customer Review Summary
Diners return most for the tapas itself, described as tasty, hot and fresh, with an extensive range that covers vegan and pescatarian eaters as well as favourites like the flat iron steak and the meatballs that one reviewer's grandchildren like. Close behind, the cocktails are called proper and beautiful, and reviewers also mention a good range of mocktails, a pleasant house wine and a tasty dessert. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, and the room is called buzzing and lively, though one reviewer notes it gets noisier on Friday and Saturday nights. Several say they would return. Cost is the recurring complaint. Some say tapas is not cheap anymore or slightly expensive, and one reviewer calls the drinks horrifically overpriced, citing a double jack and coke with no ice and too much coke, plus a rickety table. Another, moved from a booked table to make room for a larger walk-in group, spent the whole meal shivering under the air conditioning.

“Moved from our first table, booked in advance, to make room for a larger group walk in. Spent the entire time frozen under the Aircon, trying to enjoy a meal and atmosphere while shivering isn't conducive to a great experience. Service was fine as was food. Being moved and spending the entire meal shivering wasn't fine.”

“Staff, food and drinks were lovely. The toilet is clean, and all food is served properly, hot and fresh. Good range of mocktails. The dessert was tasty too. Definitely would be back. Love it.”

“Called in for lunch without a reservation and were seated without any problems. The house wine was very pleasant and we ordered several tapas between us. Our food came quickly and was hot and very tasty. Tapas is not cheap anymore but we all enjoyed each dish. Very pleasant lunch.”

“Nice place, nice food. But! Horrifically over priced. Double jack and coke - £12. On a hot day, no ice and WAY too much coke. £6.75 for a pint. Before food. Rickety table. Just never going back. Left angry i ordered”

“Fabulous! We have been here several times and the food is always of the highest standard. My daughter is vegan and I am pescatarian and there was so much choice for both of us. The staff are always lovely and helpful.”
