About Take a Bite
Breakfast leads the day at Take a Bite, a cafe on Old Walsall Road in Birmingham serving Monday to Saturday during daytime hours and closed on Sundays. The full English breakfast comes with bacon, sausages and fried eggs, and the fried bread is grilled rather than deep fried, so a cooked breakfast arrives without dripping in grease. Sandwiches fill out the rest of the menu, among them a sausage, egg and tomato sandwich. The kitchen sits at the back within sight of the seating area, and the team takes orders at the front counter, then brings plates to the table for anyone eating in. No booking is needed, so customers simply walk in. The same counter handles takeaway orders and hands over collections to delivery drivers for those eating off site. A step-free entrance lets visitors with mobility needs get in without a kerb or stair, and high chairs are on hand for families with young children.

Customer Review Summary
The complaints are specific. One reviewer says breakfast reached the table cold while the counter worker chatted with a delivery driver. Another found the ham tasted and smelled off, and a third described a jacket potato with a soggy, microwaved skin and about two tablespoons of watered down tuna. One reviewer finds the Warburtons bread too sweet, and another does not recommend the vegetarian breakfast. A regular Saturday visitor says some mornings they are the only ones in there.

“Order breakfast and it came to the table cold, not very impressed, the lady on the counter was more intrested in chatting to delivery driver while food went cold, wouldn't recomend”

“my wife and me try to find time to get into this lovely cafe every Saturday, sometimes we are the only ones in there (3 stars for atmosphere - nothing ever bad in there!) staff are/is lovely and extremely helpful, food is being cooked in the back, in sight of the seating area & pretty quick! not expensive, good varied menu we don't recommend the vege breakfast but it seems fine if you want to avoid meat: not a single complaint, and much better than the Hindley's cake shop that was there ages ago! best food shop in the area!!”

“My delivery of 2 different sandwiches that i ordered arrived quick, hot & tasted very good, i have previously ate in and their full english breakfast is well cooked and of good value, try it yourself”

“First time visiting the cafe, the server was very pleasant. The food was very basic and over priced for what it was. My ham tasted off and smelt funny, I didn't raise it while there as there were other customers in the cafe so didn't think it was appropriate. Just feedback to check your sell by date on food (ham). Unfortunately I won't be visiting again 😢”
