About Marlboro Cafe
Marlboro Cafe, a cafe on Greenholm Rd in Birmingham, builds its cooking around breakfasts ordered in small, medium or large sizes, so each diner picks the portion that suits them. The rest of the menu keeps to café standards, with beans on toast that can come with cheese added, and home-made chips alongside. Orders are cooked to order and carried out to the table, and no booking is taken, so customers simply walk in and order. High chairs make room for families with young children, and tables outside give the option of eating in the open air. The kitchen also prepares roast dinners for customers who want to take a meal away and eat it elsewhere. Service runs Tuesday to Sunday during the daytime, with the doors closed on Mondays.

What reviewers say
Reviewers most often mention large breakfast, homemade chips, tuna mayo onion sandwich and takeaway roast dinner.
Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come back for the food, led by the large breakfast, which one diner describes as cooked hot and presented well, while others point to a tuna and mayo onion sandwich, home made chips, and a takeaway roast dinner. Friendly staff come up in nearly every review, with diners calling them welcoming, polite, and superb, and several describe returning weekly or for years. Portions are called generous, and a few mention good value for money. One reviewer, who gave a middling score, reports that the woman serving did not listen to the order, asking for cheese first on a cheese and beans on toast, and also says prices have gone up and other places charge less for similar food. Others visit before a stadium event, during a car repair, or while away on training, and one says the cafe suits a good old fashioned British cafe meal. One reviewer says he will return the next day for another breakfast.

“It’s little cafes like this that are the beating heart of a community. We visited here before going to watch the athletics at Alexander Stadium. We chose a small and medium sized breakfast. Generous portions. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend.”

“I havent been to this Cafe since about 2014 possibly even longer, on a cold and windy day I thought I'd pop back in and get myself some breakfast, the door was blown open by the wind almost as if it was fate calling me back to this place. I was greeted by a young woman (whos name I forget but will ask on my next visit) Who not only was friendly, warm in her reception of me but actually improved my visit 10 fold, she was willing to chat and never lost the smile from her face the entire time I was there Now for the food, when I was last here over a decade ago it was probably a 7/10 on average, I ordered a large breakfast today and it was quickly cooked and brought out to me and the presentation was among the best I had ever seen in a Cafe. So far, very impressed with the place. Until I tucked into the breakfast... And it was a taste sensation! Everything was cooked to absolute perfection, all hot, all delicious, it was perfect, possibly to my mind the best breakfast I had ever had, or at least in the top 2. My only negative about this place is that I will have to blame my 5th chin on them for doing such good food You want a good old fashioned British Cafe with good quality food and service? Make this place your regular. I will be coming back tomorrow for another one. Utterly outstanding”

“First time at the cafe, food very nice, Tina and staff very welcoming. (Nov 2024) My second time today whilst getting car fixed at Perry Garage, food and staff just as nice. Highly recommended.”
