  “Earlier this evening I phoned China Garden in Ballymena to place a delivery order. I was advised the delivery time would be approximately 45 minutes to an hour. After waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes, I called back to check whether my order was on its way. The staff member put me on hold to check and returned to inform me without any apology or acknowledgment of the delay that the delivery would now be a further 45 minutes to an hour. She then paused and asked, “Do you want to cancel?” I was genuinely taken aback by their complete lack of customer-care, I have never encountered such dismissive and indifferent service, especially within the Customer Hospitality service sector. It suggests a business that either does not value its customers or feels it no longer needs to. The Chinese takeaway sector in Ballymena appears to have declined significantly in recent years. What was once known for quality food and respectful service now feels like a race to the bottom, average ingredients paired with non-existent customer service. Many will remember when establishments such as The Water Margin, The Manley and Go Sun set a much higher standard for both food and hospitality. If you are considering ordering from China Garden takeaway, I would strongly advise you to think carefully. Instead, I contacted ‘The Manner House Restaurant’ in Ballymena. While slightly more expensive, the quality of food was truly excellent and the level of service was professional and courteous, well worth the difference. Based on my experience, China Garden’s attitude towards its customers belongs in the gutter, its very basic customer service is completely unacceptable.   “Have been ordering food from here 25 +years always very good until tonight. Ordered a mixed grill and everything was absolutely stoned cold. Order only took 30 minutes and I live 2minutes for delivery.not happy.”

  “If you’re getting it delivered the wait can be diabolical. Numerous times I’ve waited over 2hrs. That being said, the food is always fantastic. Would recommend collecting your order to avoid delays”

  “Been going here for 3 years and the food is excellent full of flavour and great quality. Yes you do have to wait a long time, not sure why but generally if they say 30 mins it’ll be a least an hour or longer, especially on the weekends. …”

  “Worst service ever, ordered food at ten past seven just of the phone at five to nine, phoned the shop to be told it would be another ten minutes, then offered a ten pound refund for waiting over two hours, absolute disgusting. Avoid if your looking a quick takeaway.”

  “Ordered a delivery, said 1hour. Called 2 hours later still no delivery, said sorry it would be another 45 mins or we could come and collect now. If I wanted to drive in and collect I would have went 2 hours ago. Not the first time this has happened pushed to the back of the que. don’t ask for delivery unless within 5 minute radius. Not the first time it has happened. If they even called and said we are really busy. Fine. But 3 hours for a delivery is sort of out of order in my opinion.”

  “How do you rate atmosphere at a takeaway? The many others waiting were friendly. The food is excellent but don't go there because too many ppl make my wait longer! Good prices, great food, excellent service. But still... Please don't go there. Last Sunday I had to wait a while for my exceptional food even tho it was busy it was worth the wait!”

  “This place is an absolute joke. It’s a shame the service is so terrible because the food is genuinely great. We’ve ordered from here about 5 times and of them 5 times. 4 of them was the wrong order. Tonight was the last straw. We were missing part of our order. We rang up to see if it could be delivered as it was missing and we were told no. This is illegal. A family member of mine had to bring back the food back for a refund. After feeling threatened by the staff. We eventually got our money Avoid like the plague.”
