About The Valley Coffee House

The Valley Coffee House is a cafe in Ayr, at 13 High Main St, serving breakfast all day. The breakfast comes as a small plate or as several larger options, with black pudding, haggis and tattie scone on the plate. The wider menu adds cakes and a big pot of tea for one, so a visit can be as light as a drink with something sweet. Seating is split across two separate sitting rooms, and one of them allows dogs, which gives people with a dog a place to sit down with it.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often return to the breakfast, singling out the black pudding, which one calls delicious and another soft, alongside haggis full of flavour and a tattie scone cooked to perfection. Close behind, one reviewer calls the cheese and onion toastie the best they can remember, and the mint aero cheesecake gets a recommendation from the same person. Others mention the big pot of tea for one, good coffee and cakes, and an extensive menu running from fish and chips to baked potatoes and burgers. Portions and prices are described as good value, and the friendly staff and owner come up repeatedly, with a family-run feel, two seating rooms and one that allows dogs. The one complaint is a takeaway order of two coffees where the coffee shot was left out, so the customer paid for two steamed milks and had already driven off. One reviewer also asks for hash browns on the breakfast menu. Several visitors passing through say they found the cafe by chance and would stop again.

“I have just bought two takeaway coffees, only to realise that the coffee shot wasn’t put in. We have just payed for two steamed milks. Not great. Maybe if I had sat in it would be different but as I’ve now driven off I can’t recommend.”

“Very cosy little place offering extensive menu of all your local favourites, from fish snd chips through toasties, baked potatoes, burgers, soups to served-all-day breakfasts - yes, plural. There's a small breaky and additional three options of the regular one to choose from. Place is tidy, staff are friendly and attentive. Food portions are of good size making us feel we got good value for our money. Food itself was tasty and nicely presnted. Good tea, good coffee and cakes. Looks like this family-run cafe cares and puts effort into their business, and we appreciate that. Also, this is one of the very few places (if not the only one place) in the area that is open Mondays. 👍🏻👍🏻 P.S. Any chance of having hash browns added to your breakfast menu? 😉”

“Yummy food, the black pudding especially was delicious. Food was cooked fresh and the actual shop was very busy, lots of full tables and still plenty of space. The option to sit in two different rooms and one of them even allows dogs. It's such a great price too. Will be visiting again very soon!”

“Very good, filling lunch options for adults and kids alike. Great value and very friendly owner. We were stopping through on our drive home and would gladly stop here again for lunch!”

“Only found this place by accident but so glad we did. Service was outstanding and so was the food. Breakfast can be so disappointing sometimes but this one wasn't. Black pudding was soft, haggis was full of flavour and the tattie scone was cooked to perfection. Definately worth a visit or 5.”
