About The Coo Shed

The Coo Shed is a cafe, breakfast restaurant, and tea room set on South Corton Farm in Ayr. Milk vending machines on site dispense milk, ice cream, and other farm-made products, alongside items such as soup and eggs. The menu runs across 42 dishes, with breakfast served alongside lunch, cakes, and coffees, and cakes and tray bakes available to box up and take away. A gift shop and a selection of plants sit outside the cafe for browsing. The entrance is step-free for visitors with mobility needs, and high chairs are set out for families with young children. Outdoor seating gives a further option for eating outside, and dogs are welcome throughout. It operates as a walk-in, with no booking, and a queue for a table is common, with stone benches provided for those waiting. It opens Tuesday to Sunday during the day, closing on Mondays. Customer Review Summary

The cakes and tray bakes draw the most consistent praise, with several reviewers singling out cakes and desserts alongside breakfast and lunch dishes as reliably fresh and tasty. Close behind is the farm's milk vending machine setup, where visitors can get milk, cakes, soup and eggs straight from the on-site dairy, a detail multiple reviewers call a highlight. Service is repeatedly described as excellent and friendly, with a few noting the team works well together during busy periods. Reviewers also mention the plant nursery and gift shop outside as pleasant extras. The main recurring trade-off is a wait for a table, sometimes around half an hour, though one review notes stone benches are provided for those who can't stand long. One visitor who only used the milkshake vending machine felt it lacked atmosphere compared to expectations of a farm shop setup, and another found a breakfast slice a bit dry and hard. Several reviewers describe boxing up leftover cakes to take home after finishing their meal.

Such a lovely place. I loved the atmosphere and the service of the staff was on point too. The food? Out of this world, 10/10. There is a very cute gift shop outside and a milk vending machine too where you can pic whichever flavour you want!

Our second year visiting. Service is second to none - the way the team work together in the cafe is great to watch. The menu is varied and portions are great. All of us (4) have sampled cakes, coffees and breakfast options - all fresh, tasty and worth coming back for. A great selection of plants outside - some more unusual varieties too. If we lived closer, I’d be coming back for these!

Honestly take time to visit this place! I was gutted we only found it on our last day. Food is amazing, cakes are incredible, staff are lovely! Amazing value. We also used the milk and ice-cream vending machines which were a huge hit!!

I can't comment on the cafe as we didn't go in, we went for milkshake and ice cream, which disappointingly came out of a vending machine not a farm shop. The machines dispense the milk product that are made on the farm but it definately lacked an atmosphere standing in a shed to use a vending machine is not what I expected. The cafe looked more inviting, but we didn't want to spend time as we were traveling back to Glasgow. There was a small plant nursery on site too. The products were delish though !!

Lovely breakfast, slice was a bit dry and hard. Nice coffee, good atmosphere and reasonably priced. Would go back!
