Quick info
About The Chippy Aviemore
The Chippy Aviemore is a fish and chips takeaway at 3 Granish Wy in Aviemore. Fish suppers and fish and chips are cooked to order, so there is a short wait while the fish fries, and the chips are made from fresh potatoes. The fish can also be cooked in gluten free batter, which gives people avoiding gluten a way to order it, though it is fried in the same fryer as other items. Curry sauce comes as a side or in a pot, and the menu runs beyond fish to include doner kebabs. The menu is limited. A large car park sits next to the Co-op.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the fish suppers, describing haddock and chips as freshly cooked to order, tasty and not greasy, with just enough batter to complement the fish. Chips come close behind, with one reviewer pointing to fresh potatoes and another calling them fantastic. The curry sauce also earns praise, though one reviewer wishes there were more of it. Others mention sausage and chips, a burger described as one of the best they have had, and fish fried in gluten free batter, which one notes shares a fryer with everything else. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful. The main complaint is value. Two reviewers found their bills steep for fish suppers, and one felt portions were small, especially the large chips, while also finding the batter thin and the chips a bit dry. Even so, one of them says they would go back, and another notes the fish was worth a short wait because it was cooked fresh to order.

“Four stars. Lovely friendly staff, and the fish itself was excellent, really tasty. The batter was a touch thin for my taste, and the chips were a bit dry. Portions also felt small, especially the “large chips”, and the overall bill came to £57 for three fish, two large chips, a fish cake, two mushy peas and a pot of curry sauce, which felt pretty steep. Decent overall, but value for money could be better.”

“Excellent menu. Although the website doesn't mention anything about Gluten Free. They can however cook any fish with Gluten Free batter. Fried in the same fryer, so cross contamination may be a problem for some, but not for me and it was absolutely delicious Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff”

“This is probably the best fish and chips I have ever had! The fish was so perfect they didn't hide it in masses of batter, just enough to compliment the fish as it cooks. No skin on the fish, so I ate ALL of it! Fresh potatoes for the chips, none of the pre-frozen disasters. The young people serving in the shop were polite, helpful and smiley, so refreshing to see these days. 10/10!”

“2 fish suppers single battered sausage 2 cans of juice and 2x curry £43 , fish was nicely cooked and tasted great not very greasy . Bit on the pricy side for a fish supper i would pay the price if the fish supper was class but was enjoyable. I would go back .”
