About The Shack - Bar and Grill

The Shack - Bar and Grill is a restaurant at Bush House on Queen's Square in Attleborough, serving an American-inspired menu built around burgers and chicken wings. The burgers range from a single with cheese to a double, and Cod Finger Burgers sit alongside the beef options. Mains go beyond burgers to a mixed grill and a half rack of ribs, so the menu suits diners who want a plate of grilled meat as well as a burger. Chips come with mains, and a side salad can be swapped in for them. The entrance is small, and the restaurant opens up as you walk through, with tables spaced apart and plenty of room between them.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, attentive staff, who are described as welcoming, accommodating, and clearly enjoying their jobs, with special touches for one family's birthday dinner. Food comes close behind, with burgers named repeatedly, including the ultimate burger, the double burger, and a cod finger burger with fluffy chips, alongside peri chicken wings, tempura prawns, halloumi fries, a mixed grill, half rack of ribs, and cheesy garlic bread. Portions and prices are called good value by most. One reviewer praised the way the team spaced out starters and mains, and another liked the roomy tables and the owner's aim of giving work to staff who struggle with anxiety. The caveats are few but specific. One diner found the food mediocre, saying the chips tasted like oven chips, the food arrived in a bake-at-home baguette, and the desserts seemed bought in, and disliked seeing a toilet from their table. Another noted the restaurant had no steak or pizza and that a water cost a pound. One reviewer found the place quiet.

“Made our first visit to The Shack tonight to celebrate our son’s 21st birthday. Very impressed-every member of staff was engaged and gave the impression they enjoy their jobs. Friendly welcome, attentive service and various special touches for our son’s birthday. Food was very tasty and we thought very good value too. We will definitely visit again. Thank you to all involved for making a memorable evening”

“Had a wonderful meal at The Shack ✨ We visited thursday evening for some dinner after a day out in Norwich. Ordered some starters including peri chicken wings, tempura prawns and halloumi fries- all very yummy and reasonably priced. The team were very accommodating with enabling us a gap after the starters (we like a mini break before our main meals). For mains we ordered the mixed grill (range of meats including chicken, gammon & beef steak), ultimate burger, half rack of ribs and were very happy to let me swap the chips for a side salad with my bbq chicken melt. The food was lovely! Large portions so you definitely won’t go hungry and again reasonably priced. Cannot fault their service, kindness and always checking that we were happy. It’s so important to support local and I encourage you to do so with this local restaurant. A very lovely evening & recommend to anyone ☺️ 10/10.”

“Service was great. I wish I could remember the name of the guy. The restaurant itself was rather surprising in that the entrance was small and it got bigger as you walked through. The food was mediocre. I'm so sorry to say that as I really wanted to give great reviews, but the chips tasted like oven chips and food was served in a bake your own baguette type thing that you buy from Lidl. The desserts were lovely but I suspect they bought them in like that, so very little effort was needed. Also looking at a toilet all evening wasnt ideal. Might be worth thinking about trying to hide this. Did I enjoy my meal, yes it was ok, would I go again, sadly not.”
