Quick info
About The Hideout
The Hideout is a cafe and arcade on Queen's Square in Attleborough, which a family has owned and run since 1978. The breakfast menu covers cooked English, American breakfast and American pancakes, and an all day breakfast is on offer too. Eggs on toast or sourdough give a lighter option. The American breakfast comes with a cup of tea or coffee, and tea is served by the mug. Ham, egg and chips is on the lunch menu. Dogs are welcome, so regulars with a pet can bring it along.

Customer Review Summary
Breakfast is what reviewers return to most, led by the American breakfast, the American pancakes and the all day breakfast, which several call excellent, with options running from cooked English to eggs on toast, fruit and pancakes. Close behind is the value, with portions described as fair and prices as reasonable. The ham, egg and chips, with thick ham, chunky chips and two perfectly cooked eggs, also earns praise, and the coffee is called good or excellent by several. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly, polite and welcoming. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found two fried eggs on sourdough very overcooked, with bread so hard most of it was inedible. Another found the coffee that comes with the American breakfast was instant, and one called the food pretty greasy and slapdash. One notes the service felt a little haphazard for a first visit. Reviewers also describe a mixed-up order that arrived late, after which the server gave the meal on the house and offered extra bits, and a waitress who brought a sausage out for a visitor's dog.

“I came here for breakfast on my own and ordered the American breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the food was fantastic. The American breakfast comes with a cup of tea or coffee, unfortunately this was instant coffee, absolutely not a game changer but if I had of known, I would have ordered a proper coffee to go with it.”

“We Popped in for lunch, and ordered the ham egg and chips. The food was lovely, with generous slices of thick ham, chunky chips and two eggs, perfectly cooked. All washed down with a mug of tea. We will definitely return thanks.”

“Lovely little cafe. My friends order was mixed up and took a while to come out however our server gave her the meal on the house and offered us some extra bits to make up for it. Amazing staff I definitely recommend”

“A reasonable breakfast in the heart of wonderful Attleborough. Pretty greasy and slap dash, but the portions were fair and the produce was good quality 🍳”
