About The Old Mill
The Old Mill is a Grade II listed pub on Mill Lane in Ashford, standing on the site of the old Kennington Mills, which the pub takes its name from. The kitchen centres on steak, with a grill menu that includes a 16oz rump and a tomahawk roast sharing platter. Brisket ends with cornbread are among the starters. A monthly quiz raises money for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, so a night out here also supports a local charity, and dogs are welcome. Reservations are required. A specials menu runs alongside the main menu.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly, welcoming staff come up in most reviews, with one server handing over small glasses to sample different beers and ciders. Among the food, diners single out the Tomahawk roast sharing platter, described as melt in the mouth, and the pork ribs, called the best one reviewer has eaten. Starters of crab and haddock fishcakes, a charcuterie board and brisket ends with cornbread also draw praise, and the sun trap garden and covered outdoor area are described as lovely for lunch. The complaints centre on the kitchen. One family found their pork burger and pulled pork flatbread cold, with a thin patty and pork smothered in mayonnaise. A Sunday roast arrived covered in a red wine jus that the menu did not mention, and another diner found the burger a bit dry. A few call the pub grub decent but not the best quality. The family with the cold mains were offered a 25% discount by staff who stayed friendly throughout.

“It's a lovely place to come. The staff are always welcoming. Glenn every time we have seen him has a smile on his face as he walks around. Definitely recommend.”

“Went here with my girl on the last day of our 3 week UK-holiday and it was the choice we‘ve ever made. The pork ribs we both had were the best ribs i‘ve ever eaten. The waiter was so nice and fulfilled every wish. Even gave us some little glasses to try different beer and cider. And the restaurant itself is so cozy and nice - perfect in every way! Thank you!!”

“I stopped here following a family country walk near by, on the the off chance. I really like the decor and the atmosphere was great with a warm welcome by very helpful & efficient staff. For a two course meal with drinks for four people came to a very reasonable cost of £127.20. The standard of the meals was very good and the presentation was totally top draw, enjoyable, thank you chef. A very pleasant experience overall for a random family stop, thank you Old Mill Pub. I would happily stop there again.”

“Me and my partner came for date night and it was our first visit and it will not be our last! Worth the money you really get value for it, loved the fact there was a specials menu as i’m a super fussy eater and loved a few things on the menu ! drinks were a decent price and the staff were absolutely wonderful ! honestly cannot wait to return 🙌”

“The Old Mill sits in Kennington, just north of Ashford, close to where the old Kennington Mills once stood on the site that gives the pub its name. It specialises in steak, from a 16oz rump to a tomahawk pork chop on the Friday and Saturday grill menu, alongside a full Sunday roast. There's a monthly quiz raising money for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, and a real fire for winter visits. The building is Grade II listed.”
