About Kwizinn
On Portland Rd in Aberystwyth, Kwizinn is a fusion restaurant that cooks modern Caribbean and British food together on one menu. Oxtail sits alongside a burger with a hint of cinnamon and sweetness, so Caribbean spicing reaches a familiar British format. The kitchen serves brisket on top of potatoes and veg, a hearty plate built around the main. Dishes combine Caribbean flavours with British cooking rather than keeping the two cuisines on separate sides of the menu. Extra sauce is available on request.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often praise the Caribbean fusion cooking, with the oxtail and a burger carrying a hint of cinnamon and a touch of sweetness singled out as tender, juicy and full of flavour. Close behind are the desserts, a rum cake and a banana cake, along with fish tacos, sweet potato fries, a chicken and rice bowl, and a brisket served on potatoes and veg. Homemade nachos and parmesan fries also earn praise, and the Sunday lunch is described as superb, with a generous amount of vegetables and potatoes. Several reviewers mention friendly waiting staff and food that arrived quickly. The main complaint comes from one couple who felt the portions were slightly small for the prices, saying they would have left hungry without the fries. Reviewers disagree on booking, with one calling it essential and another saying no table was needed. One suggests asking for extra sauce if wanted, and another returned the next day to try a different meal.

“This is not our usual type of dining, we are steak/burger and chips type of people but we decided to try something different even though burger was on the menu! We really enjoyed our meals here. We had the homemade nachos - I couldn't tell you what was on top but they were totally different to nachos I've had and they tasted lovely! We had brisket, this was cooked perfectly, it sat on top of potatoes and veg. We also had parmesan fries and they were also very nice. Everything was tasty, we didn't wait long at all for food and the place is clean and staff are friendly. This probably just shows the type of dining we are used to (as in not so much fine dining!) I think for the prices maybe just slightly bigger potions - like just a few more potatoes. If we didn't have the fries we would have left hungry but overall really nice and they deserve to do well. It was a nice experience, thank you.”

“This restaurant served the best meal that I have eaten for a number of years (and I have eaten at a Michelin star restaurants several times during that time). The food is exceptional. Both the combinations of flavours and textures, and also the presentation were fantastic. The decor and furniture are understated but there is no comparison between other restaurants that I have rated as 5 star and Kwizinn - it deserves at least 7 stars 🤩 It is also very good value for money. Booking is essential.”

“Went here for lunch and had a lovely time! Food was excellent, so flavour and fresh. Our waiter was very friendly and offered water for the table as soon as we were sat. Overall, a great little cafe with wonderful food.”

“Kwizinn is a restaurant where food is cooked with care and soul. The chicken and rice bowl was packed with flavour and the chicken cooked beautifully. Coffee and drinks in general were delicious. The service was excellent and we felt relaxed in the comfortable as the place has a modern interior design. We'll be back next we find ourselves in Aberystwyth.”
