  “I have had this on my list for a while. We finally stopped in for breakfast. We sat ourselves and waited a while for our server. Ordered coffee and water. We got coffee but had to remind them several times for our water. It was not super busy and they had at least 3 servers We ordered chorizo plate ala mexicana, barbacoa taco, bean n cheese taco, pancake and bacon. The portions were good. The flavor was just okay. Beans were bland and not much cheese on my taco. It was served Luke warm. Flavor profile was more Tex and not so much Mex. The pancake was good but nothing special. Bacon was cooked perfectly. The star of the show were the tortillas and size of the tacos. They were big! The salsa was not picante at all, which we like some picante. Overall we were disappointed. Maybe we hit it on a bad day. If we go back we will have to try the enchiladas. Everyone days they are great!!”

  “The service was good although she didn't speak or understand English very well. They put American cheese on their nachos yuck and on their tacos. I should have been told. I definitely won't get those again. Oh and they charge for chips and salsa. The server said $3, but the menu said $1.85. I got the $1.85”

  “Food was good but service severely lacked hospitality and emotion. For a slow day with 4 other patrons in the building our waitress didnt see importance in a smile or even the courtesy of ice in the "iced" tea”

  “We saw this place and thought it was going to be a great breakfast spot. We were solidly disappointed. My eggs were good as well as the bacon. My issue was the cold toast and cold butter. (Why does no one butter toast? For what you pay for it just throw cold bread at me and dont charge me if i have to do all the work) My son-in-law loved his waffle. The potatoes were bland, not cooked all through not crispy at all. But as you know they are known for their Mexican breakfast food. My daughter had it but it was very watery and she said it was bland. Might have been a bad day. Our waitress was nice but she was busy so we never got refills but oh well. Take a chance but I am not sure we would be back.”

  “Solid spot with great custome service! Love the enchiladas, just a little small and the chilaquilas were not to my partners liking but not bad! It's personal preference, but you should stop and try it because in this area it is easily the best Mexican food in the area.”

  “Thousand Oaks Cafe is roomy, clean, and serves very good Texas comfort food at amazingly low prices. Our group was there for breakfast and the average price per person was just over $10.”

  “Love everything, guisado is my favorite. Great as usual! We try to go here everytime we visit San Antonio. We usually get the chicken chilaquiles. (Cheel - ah- key- less) I always order carne guisada. The tortillas are very good. Homemade. The pancakes and waffle plates are good as well.”

  “Nice warm colors inside, a lot of wood. They do not set chips and salsa at the table while you wait as most restaurants do. I liked this as I tend to eat too many and don’t need the calories added to my meal. Ordered the brisket plate. …”

  “Breakfast tacos are ok, horrible huevos rancheros had to return and get tacos. Cook can't seem to know the difference between over medium and over easy eggs. Nobody likes under cooked eggs. Service is so unfriendly. This was the last time I go there. Thought I'd give them another chance but no.”
