  “Atmosphere is great. Service was slow. Food was way under seasoned, when asked for more sauce for my chicken that didn't have much on it they charged me extra. I asked why I was being charged because they didn't cook the food correctly the first time. The nana argued with me that she didn't cook the food. I asked do they not have employees in the kitchen making the food? I complained about the food to the waitress, who also stood next to the manager saying they have to charge me for it and that it says it on the menu. So I have to pay extra for the kitchen staff messing up my food. Disputed with my card company. Edit: two of us ordered the same plate, chicken with fried rice and vegetables. We were both feeling nauseated later that evening. Around 2:00 a.m. we both woke up vomiting. We ordered on Saturday evening. This is the following Tuesday. I'm feeling somewhat better and he is still kind of feeling nauseated. So dine at your own risk.”

  “We used to absolutely love Toke Sushi and Hibachi. The food has always been incredible — fresh sushi, delicious hibachi, huge portions, and we almost always leave with enough leftovers for another meal at home. We even met the sushi chef during our last visit, and he was so kind and genuinely grateful for our business. We told him how much we brag about his talent and how many friends we’ve recommended this restaurant to. Unfortunately, one employee has completely ruined the experience for us. Every single time we’ve visited, we’ve ended up with the same older waitress with black hair who is consistently aggressive, rude, and condescending. She always seems irritated that customers are there at all. Today was the final straw. We purposely ordered takeout hoping to avoid another uncomfortable interaction with her, but we still had to deal with her anyway. When we got to our car, we realized one of our sushi rolls was missing, so we returned to either get the missing item or a refund. Instead of simply checking the order, she immediately became defensive and insisted we were wrong. She aggressively tore through all of our takeout containers searching for the missing roll, and when she finally realized the restaurant had actually forgotten it, there was still no apology — just more attitude and rudeness. To make matters worse, after she dug through all of the containers, our food ended up spilled throughout the plastic takeout bag. It’s really disappointing because the food itself and the sushi chef deserve praise, but customer service matters too. Sadly, this experience was enough for us to decide we won’t be coming back. We’d rather make the hour drive to Konomi than continue being treated this way.”

  “Did not get drink order correct. I had to wait several minutes to get it correct. Service was inadequate. Price is higher than Birmingham and quality of food is lacking. The sushi was warm and tasted like it had been laid out all day.”

  “This place came recommended from a friend at work. I am traveling and not usually in this part of the state. I am so glad she recommended it, I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw that it was located next to a Walmart parking lot but from the moment you walk in, the ambiance warms you and helps you to relax. All the staff were very positive and knowledgeable about the menu since this was my first time to visit. They used their space very well, I didn't feel like my table was too close to the next table, I prefer space and some places try to fit to many table in, but not this place. They had an extensive sushi list that took me some time to get through but was very impressed. When the food came out, it was evident that the chef takes pride in their work and the presentation was really well done. All the food was amazing and my only critique would be that they were a little heavy with the ginger dressing on the salad but it was still very good. When nearby, this place is worth checking out.”
