About The Derwent Arms, Restaurant & Caravan site
The Derwent Arms, Restaurant & Caravan site is a pub, restaurant and RV park on Osbaldwick Village in York. Behind the pub, camping and caravan pitches, including gravel pitches, are available with water and Elsan waste disposal, though no EHU or other facilities. A bus stop nearby offers a short ride into York city centre. The kitchen's ten-dish menu runs from a four-course option to Chicken Parmesan and Fish Goujon, with Chicken, Steak or Veg also on offer, and steak pies are served, including for private functions. Dogs are welcome throughout, and a quiz night runs on select evenings alongside occasional live entertainment or a singer. Reservations are required for dining. A Christmas Day menu is put up on a dedicated poster ahead of the holiday.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers repeatedly return for the caravan pitches and the friendly hosts, with several noting the gravel pitches added recently for wet weather and the flat, easy grass pitches behind the pub, alongside water and Elsan waste facilities. Close behind is the food, singled out for the steak pies at a private function and generally described as good and reasonably priced, with staff called attentive and going out of their way for requests. Also mentioned are the location near York with an easy bus ride into the centre and entertainment such as a Saturday night singer. A few raise value concerns, with one reviewer noting the overnight price doubled between visits with no discount on food or drink, and another describing sticky tables and calling for a deeper clean and refurbishment. Multiple stayers say they have returned for several years running or plan to come back.

“Sorry this is a long time coming we stayed at derwent arms in Nov last year and the year before. The 1st year it was £10per night which we thought was good had entertainment on which was ok ,2nd year £20per night with no discount on food or drink so thought it was a bit expensive so not stopping there this year. Saying all that food was good and staff were nice both times”

“Liked: They now have a few gravel pitches which are ideal when it rains, so although basic it was very good bus stop going into town not quite outside the pub but only a few minute walk onto the main road. Staff friendly and helpful …”

“Attended a private function yesterday. Staff were friendly and attentive going over and above to accommodate requests. The food was lovely compliments to the chef on the steak pies and on such a hot day in a kitchen. Definitely recommend and will return. Thank you.”
