About SOJO Café and Bar
SOJO Café and Bar sits on York Road as a bar, café and restaurant rolled into one all-day space on the high street. The menu moves from café staples like hot chocolate and coffee through to a kitchen that runs into the evening, with pizzas on a thin base, sharing plates and salads such as the Caesar and the Summer Bowl. Lunch brings options like the Sojo Bowl with halloumi, alongside vegetarian choices. Beer is poured at the bar, and the same counter is one of two ways to place an order, with table service the other. Payment is taken at the point of ordering. The room takes table bookings, and outdoor seating lines the high street for passing trade. A quiz nights ties the week together, drawing a regular crowd through the door.

“After quite a few days of travelling, my wife and I were really craving something fresh and healthy, and Sojo Cafe was exactly what we needed. The staff were outstanding from the moment we walked in – genuinely friendly, helpful and welcoming. We both had salads: I had the Caesar salad and my wife had the Summer Bowl. Both were exceptional – fresh, full of flavour, really well put together and just the right amount. My wife also had a hot chocolate and I had a coffee, both of which were excellent. The cafe itself is clean, nicely decorated and has a really pleasant atmosphere, but the staff were what really stood out. They could not have been more helpful and made the whole visit a pleasure. Unfortunately, as we live overseas, we are unlikely to get back anytime soon, but if we lived locally this would definitely become a regular stop. Thanks very much to everyone at Sojo Cafe – keep doing exactly what you are doing.”

“The bar tender Craig Blakey at Sojo is such a lovely lad. Very helpful, service with a smile and always will try and meet customers expectations. If you are looking for a place to have a drink and chill I would highly recommend.”

“Acomb has been my stomping ground my entire life. I never pictured I’d be sat out on the high street in my 30s with a beer and pizza! The food was gorgeous, and really reasonably priced too. A really lovely spot. Thank you”

“Fantastic place with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I've been there many times and would thoroughly recommend the Sojo Bowl with halloumi for lunch and the pizzas in the evening.”
