About Raven Inn

Raven Inn is a pub on Raven Square in Welshpool that is set up for food rather than a night out drinking. A dog menu is available, so dogs are welcome and have their own food to eat. A pie of the day appears on the specials board, with steak and ale and steak, red wine and mushroom among the pies. Steak dishes include sirloin steak with prawns, and the menu also lists sandwiches and a gluten free burger. The team accommodates food allergies.

Customer Review Summary

Pie is the draw reviewers raise most at the Raven Inn, with the steak and ale pie and a steak, red wine and mushroom pie described as tender, well flavoured and packed with meat, one calling it the best pie they have had. Close behind are the sirloin steak with prawns, faggots, a gluten free burger and sandwiches, and a creme brûlée for dessert. Portions are repeatedly called generous, and food arrives piping hot and in reasonable time even when the place is busy. Several reviewers say staff were friendly and helpful, and a few describe being accommodated for awkward allergies, with a dog menu also getting praise. The interior is called warm, inviting and airy. No reviewer raises a real complaint, though one notes the inn is set up for food rather than a night of drinking, and another says reservations are no joke after a phone call at 5 only just secured a table. One diner finished by noting clean plates all round, children included.

“Beautiful interior, delicious food. We were enchanted from the moment we walked in. It’s no joke about making reservations either—we called at 5 and they could barely squeak us in, but were so grateful they did. If you’re waffling on a place to eat around here, make this your first choice.”

“We visited the Raven Inn while on holiday and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and polite, and the food came out in a reasonable time, the food was fresh and piping hot. Our meals were delicious. Ordering the sirloin steak with prawns and pie of the day (steak and ale). The pie looked home made and full of tender meat. The steak was cooked how I asked and the portion sizes were generous. We ordered a creme brûlée for desert and again was very yummy. So would highly recommend. We visited on a Thursday with plenty of people but enough free tables spare for just the two of us. The interior looked really warm and inviting. Would definitely visit again.”

“After an excellent lunch time visit we returned for our evening meal. I had a steak red wine and mushroom pie off the specials board. The steak just fell apart as I attempted to cut it. Best pie I've ever had. My partner had a gluten free burger She loved it too, although she couldn't quite eat it all as the portion was generous. Would highly recommend the Raven”

“Called in for food on our way home. Place was quite busy, but there were plenty of spaces on the car park, and plenty of tables free too. Ordered food and considering how busy the place was, we didnt have to wait long before it arrived. All the meals were spot on, everyone said how good they were, even the children, clean plates all round 😁 I had faggots, and they were the best I've ever had. Staff were really efficient, and very busy too, what a great team. We will definitely be calling in again and I would recommend the place to anyone in the area or passing through.”
