  “After walking past this restaurant dozens of times over the last four years and promising myself I’d visit, I finally made it last weekendand it completely lived up to the hype in my head. I was originally drawn to the charming outdoor setup, but the chilly late-summer breeze drove us indoors, which turned out to be just as delightful. The space indoors was elegant and clean and at the back of the restaurant was a vibrant back area featuring colourful umbrellas suspended from the ceiling. The food and service matched the setting blow for blow. Prawns-Brilliant flavor, served with pillowy-soft, crisp-shelled dough balls. Pizza- Exceptionally fresh base with great bite. Calamari- a Google review had mentioned their chewy experience, but taking the gamble paid off.. it was crispy on the outside, perfectly tender within. Portobello Mushrooms/ Cooked to perfection. Affogato- satisfying finish (not pictured, because by dessert, eating took full priority over taking photos”

  “We visited on a Friday evening and were seated straight away. The restaurant was extremely empty but, with only around three other tables occupied and what appeared to be almost one server 1/2 tables. Despite this, the service was exceptionally slow. It took around 10 minutes before anyone came over to take our order for drinks and food, in which time we noticed how loud the music was as we could barely hear each other speaking. The drinks then took approximately 15 minutes to arrive, followed by another 15 minutes before the starters arrived, meaning we had already been there around 40 minutes before the starters reached the table. Once we had finished eating, our plates and cutlery were left on the table for around 10 to 15 minutes before anyone came over to clear them. We were then waiting 40 minutes or more for the mains to arrive. Ordering additional drinks was also a struggle throughout the evening. We had three rounds of drinks in total, and every time was a struggle to get anyone’s attention. On one occasion we had to get up and order directly from the barman, who appeared to possibly be the manager, and the drinks arrived much quicker. When the mains eventually arrived, we had been left without cutlery or napkins, as the cutlery from the starters had been removed and not replaced. There was also an error with the child’s order. A pepperoni pizza had been ordered, but a plain pizza was brought out instead, so we had to give him pepperoni from our own pizzas as we could not find a server anywhere. Later, when we were waiting to order desserts, we didn’t see our waiter for another 20 minutes. We arrived shortly after 8pm and didn’t leave until around 10:45pm, despite only having three drinks each, starters and mains. For a restaurant that was so quiet, the level of service was extremely disappointing. The staff were not particularly welcoming or attentive, and getting basic service required repeatedly trying to get someone’s attention. I have previously owned and managed restaurants and bars for years, so I appreciate the pressures of hospitality and the standards expected. I usually tip 20%, even more if the service is exceptional, but on this occasion the service was so poor that I couldn’t justify leaving a tip. The starters were nice, although they took far too long to arrive. The pizzas tasted good, but were shockingly small. They were roughly 10 inches in diameter, despite being described as pizzas from an Italian pizzeria. I had specifically chosen the medium depth base expecting a substantial, rustic Italian style pizza, but it was still extremely thin and not particularly filling. At almost £20 for the pizza, the portion felt very poor value. The lasagne was also quite bland and had a noticeable aniseed type flavour that I couldn’t quite identify. It wasn’t unpleasant exactly, but it was unusual and dominated the dish. The chocolate fondant desserts were a disappointment. They appeared to be frozen desserts that had simply been microwaved rather than freshly prepared in house. The vanilla ice cream also looked and tasted extremely cheap and had very little vanilla flavour and was pure white. It had a crunchy, icy texture that suggested a very low quality product with a very high water content. For three adults and one child, the bill came to over £180, which felt extremely overpriced for the quality, portion sizes and level of service. Overall, the food wasn’t terrible, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The restaurant was almost empty on a Friday night, yet the service was painfully slow, the portions were small, and the prices were high. I would much rather spend the same money elsewhere and actually leave feeling satisfied and full. Edit: thanks for your reply, which clearly shows the lack of care you have for your business, we stood outside and vaped because your server was nowhere to be seen not sure what you mean about a playground. Weird reply. 20 years not 2. and I now own other businesses as I’m more successful now 👍🏼 but well done. Great reply. Good job little buddy.”
