About Toby Carvery Wakefield

Toby Carvery Wakefield is a carvery restaurant on Denby Dale Rd in Wakefield, where a chef carves the meat at the counter and plates come with a giant Yorkshire pudding. Lamb and beef are among the meats on offer. Dogs are welcome, so guests can bring their dog along for the meal. A King Size plate is an option, and vegetable top-ups are unlimited. Puddings and desserts are ordered at the table afterwards. The breakfast buffet includes a free-refill coffee. When guests are seated, staff ask about allergies and advise on vegan options. On busy nights the restaurant gives estimated wait times and runs a cordoned queue section, and bookings are taken on arrival.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often praise the carved roast meat, with reviewers calling the beef and lamb tender and juicy and one saying it melted in the mouth. The giant Yorkshire pudding gets repeated mention, alongside unlimited vegetable top-ups on the King Size plate. A few say the meat stayed moist and the food came piping hot even late on a Sunday evening, and one describes being seated quickly without a booking. Service earns steady credit, with reviewers noting a manager out on the floor supporting the team and servers who were attentive. Value for money is called good. The breakfast buffet draws a more mixed account from one reviewer, who found the eggs with runny yolks and the mushrooms juicy and tender, but said the sausage, bacon and hash browns had stiffened, the cubed potato had hardened, and the refill coffee was drinkable but nothing special. One host advised a vegan diner on the menu options, another arranged a step-free table for elderly parents, and one sang for a diner's brother on his birthday.

“Patrick was a fantastic host to us. Took into account my elderly parents and gave us a table without steps. Arranged for them not to walk around the cordoned section for the queue. He couldn't have been better.thank you”

“I was really craving a Sunday roast, but unfortunately it was quite late on a Sunday evening. I first tried a nearby competitor, only to find they had stopped serving roasts for the day. Thankfully, I headed to Toby Carvery Wakefield, where I was greeted by a very friendly manager who quickly got everything sorted. Despite the late hour, the meat was still moist, tender and delicious, and I was able to enjoy a full plate of all my favourite traditional Sunday roast accompaniments. It was great to see that the quality hadn't dropped at the end of service. A special mention also goes to Ms Mosope, who was proactive and attentive throughout, making sure everything was just right. A fantastic meal and a great way to end the week. I'll definitely be back.”

“We had an amazing night tonight, Patrick was the star, such amazing service and super friendly and bubbly and went above and beyond to even sing for my brother on his birthday! The food was amazing too. Will definitely be visiting again!! Give Patrick a raise!!!”

“Arrived in the nick of time at 20:30 on a Sunday evening (carvery ends 21:45). We were sat promptly and our drinks order taken. Food was piping hot and delicious! Our server Mosope was so sweet and attentive as well. Atmosphere was really nice since it was end of day, so it was quiet and calm. Also shout out to the manager, didn't get his name unfortunately, but he was very hospitable.”
