Customer Review Summary
Friendly staff are the draw reviewers raise most, with several describing waitresses and the manager as warm, helpful and welcoming to families and to guests with seating needs. The food gets a mixed but mostly good verdict. Diners call it hot and tasty, with good gravy, roast potatoes and stuffing, and two say it improved a lot on a visit six months earlier. The complaints centre on the meat and sides. Two reviewers found the pork and beef fatty, one called the meat portions minimal, and another found the Yorkshire pudding and carrots very dry and the mint sauce watery. One reviewer suggests the turkey and gammon for leaner cuts. A reviewer with a booking describes an abrupt hostess and a table beside the toilets, and another noted no greeting on entry or exit. The system is booking a table, then queuing, with one go at the meats and unlimited returns for veg, gravy and sauces.

“Came without booking, seated very quickly, our server, Shardanae was very busy but took time to ensure all was ok for us. Food was excellent. We came about 6 months ago and was very disappointed, so todays trip was great”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional care, accessibility and service One of the most thoughtful and accommodating restaurant experiences we have had. The team went above and beyond to make sure my severely disabled, wheelchair-using and ventilated son could dine safely and comfortably with us. Their kindness felt completely genuine — it wasn't simply good customer service. I called beforehand to book a table for five and explained that my son is severely disabled, uses a wheelchair and is tracheostomy ventilated. We therefore needed sufficient space for his wheelchair and medical equipment without obstructing other customers. From that first telephone call, the team were incredibly accommodating. They advised us of the best time to visit so that they could look after us properly and made sure we were positioned somewhere suitable with plenty of space. What particularly impressed me was the attention to detail. They even made sure our table was close to a plug socket so I could connect my son's ventilator if required. We were given priority where necessary, and staff regularly made sure we had everything we needed without making us feel uncomfortable or like an inconvenience. At the end of our meal I wanted to leave a tip, and they genuinely tried to refuse it because they were simply happy to have provided the service. I insisted because I felt their care deserved recognition. Going out for a family meal when your child has significant medical and accessibility needs requires considerably more planning than most people realise. Having a restaurant respond with this level of understanding, dignity and practical support makes an enormous difference. Thank you to everyone who looked after us. You enabled us to simply enjoy a family meal together, and that means more than you probably realise. We will absolutely return. Highly recommended, particularly to families who need additional accessibility support.”

“What a difference 6 months can make!! The food was great, hot and tasty just what you want (much better than our visit in January!) Everyone we spoke to was very friendly but special mention to the manager Tasha, she was so warm and welcoming and made a really effort with our kids as well! Would go back again especially if we know she is working!!”

“Last night we visited the Toby Carvery in Denham. Two years ago we had enjoyed a lovely experience at another Toby Carvery, and as our daughter had been hoping for another buffet-style meal during our holiday, this seemed the perfect choice. The reviews for this branch were mixed, but overall positive, so we reserved a table in advance. Unfortunately, our first impression was disappointing. After politely explaining that we had a reservation and showing the confirmation, the hostess rather abruptly replied, "Okay, so three people?!" before leading us to a table directly beside the toilets, with a full view of the toilet entrance. I completely understand that restaurants try to make the best use of their available space, and Toby Carvery is excellent value for money. However, as several other tables were still available, I politely asked whether we might instead sit at the table just around the corner. Her response left me feeling rather uncomfortable. She looked at me as though I had asked for something unreasonable, answered with a dismissive "Yeah," gave a small laugh, and then appeared to make light of my request in front of another guest waiting to be seated. Throughout the exchange I had been careful to say "please" and "thank you," so it was an unexpectedly awkward start to the evening. Thankfully, the experience improved once we were looked after by our waitress. She was genuinely warm and welcoming, and her kindness helped us feel much more at ease. While waiting at the carvery, we also spoke to another English couple who had experienced a similarly frosty welcome from the hostess. It seemed her manner varied greatly from guest to guest. Some were greeted warmly with "love" or "darling", while others received a far less friendly reception. We couldn't quite understand why. As members of the Toby Carvery club, we were entitled to a discount. After a little encouragement, our waitress kindly helped us when we accidentally scanned the wrong voucher. Perhaps it's a very Dutch habit to look for every possible saving, even in a restaurant that is already incredibly affordable! But after our welcome, I must admit I wasn't feeling particularly generous. 🙈 The food itself was good, especially considering the very reasonable price, and it was enjoyable to experience the Toby Carvery tradition once again. If you prefer leaner cuts of meat, I would recommend the turkey and gammon. I chose the pork, beef and gammon, but found that both the pork and the beef contained quite a lot of fat. Overall, the food offered excellent value, and the kindness of our waitress certainly made the evening more pleasant. With a warmer and more consistent welcome at the door, this could easily have been a much more enjoyable dining experience.”

“We highly recommend Toby Cavery Denham! We are regular customers for both breakfast and dinner and are never disappointed. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. We have a requirement on seating due to additional needs which is always allowed and much appreciated. This morning we were served by lovely Tasha who was amazing throughout our visit - she was professional, understanding, kind and helpful. Thank you to Tasha and all at Toby Cavery Denham 🙂”
