Quick info
About Tunbridge Wells Fish & Chips
Tunbridge Wells Fish & Chips is a fish and chip shop at 92 Camden Rd in Tunbridge Wells, where the owner serves customers at the counter. Fish and chips are cooked fresh to order, and cod and chips comes in small, medium and large sizes. The chips are thick, and a curry sauce is available to go with them. Homemade pies are also on the menu. The owner runs a second business across the street, a patisserie with eclairs and cakes, so the same person looks after both the savoury and the sweet side of the road. A small area inside is set aside for eating in.

Customer Review Summary
Cod is what reviewers return to most, described as delicious and cooked fresh to order, with crispy golden batter and white fish that arrives without bones. Portions draw constant comment: a small cod or small chips turned out huge, a medium left leftovers for the next day, and a large cod with medium chips fed four hungry men. Close behind come the thick, hot chips, with a few praising the curry sauce and the haddock. Reviewers also mention homemade pies and cakes from the owner's patisserie across the street. The owner and staff are repeatedly called friendly and polite, and one gluten intolerant customer says the request caused no bother. One reviewer disagrees sharply, calling a fish that was tiny for its price soft and slimy, with rubbery batter that fell straight off. Several others describe eating on the green opposite or in the car, still warm.

“Hadn't had fish and chips in a long time. I'm regretting that after ordering here. The cod was delicious and the chips were perfect. Very generous portions; we had small cod and large chips to share between two and it was just doable. The curry sauce is the best I've tasted! Note I'd already been munching on the chips on the drive home!”

“I’m not codding when I say Fried Fish is not my thing. The Cod at this place is just delicious… definitely worth a visit. Also The owner has just opened a patisserie across the street. Wow, wow, wow, the cakes are beautiful to look at and taste delicious. I recommend the Ferraro Roche mars bar snickers Eclair. No photos. Ate immediately.”

“Quite possibly the best fish and chips in Tunbridge Wells. A huge portion of cod and chips ( so large I ate half the next day) and that was the medium one . All freshly cooked to order and served with delightful service by the owner. In a box so I ate it in the car all seasoned Yum yum. Crispy golden batter and gorgeous white fresh fish. Thick chips just the right colour , hot with some crispy ones as well. Just perfect. Great value for money too. There is a small area to eat in but I ate them in my car before I drove home to Haywards Heath. This is my go to when I’m visiting in future, just wished I lived nearer so I could eat more often.”
