About No 7 Fish Bistro & Wine Bar
No 7 Fish Bistro & Wine Bar is a seafood restaurant in Torquay, on Beacon Hill, where the owner or staff bring a tray of the day's catch from Brixham boats to the table to explain the menu. The fish on the tray feeds dishes such as lemon sole and monkfish tail, and scallops are a recurring starter. Specials are written up on a chalkboard each day. The wine list includes wines by the glass and wine flights, with a sommelier on hand to guide the choice. Upstairs, a wine bar looks out over the sea, and food is served there as well. The restaurant is small and normally busy, so booking is needed. It is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the tray of the day's catch that staff carry to the table, showing what is being cooked before anyone orders. Fish is the draw, with scallops, Brixham lemon sole, monkfish tail, Dover sole, hake and gurnard fillets all named, and the oysters described by one reviewer as especially wonderful. Close behind is the wine list, praised for its selection by the glass and its wine flights, with a sommelier whose knowledge reviewers mention. Several describe feeling well looked after, including one who found the owner understanding when a booking time changed more than once. Cost is the recurring caveat: one diner called the bill expensive for two, though it was a special occasion, and another found the price per oyster getting steep. One reviewer suggests eating in the wine bar for more relaxed service. Desserts such as the sticky toffee pudding and brandy snap sundae are finished with brandy or amaretto at the table.

“Most amazing food!! If you like fish then you must come here. There's a bar upstairs for drinks that is stylish and overlooking the sea. The restaurant is small and they bring out some of the days catch to explain the menu. Simply a fabulous place. Certainly a gem in Torquay.”

“Superb attention to detail with a good choice (fish), and well presented dishes. Sensibly priced wine list. This is our third visit and we will be back. If you can eat in the wine bar it is a more relaxed service. £5 an oyster is getting a bit steep though…”

“We had a fantastic time here. It was such a treat to see the fresh catch brought directly to the table on a tray for us to choose from. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. The oysters were especially wonderful, and the white fish served with a light sauce and chives was a highlight of the meal. We left feeling truly well looked after.”

“We have visited No 7 a few times before (my parents live in Hampshire and we live in Exeter) My parents were in Torquay on holiday so we decided to book No 7 again. We were not disappointed. Paul the owner was very good as I had to change the time of our booking a couple of times, but he was extremely understanding which was great. The food is fresh, tasty and well presented. The wine list is very good. We had a great evening and throughly enjoyed everything! See you again soon ❤️”
